Bottle. Black color with a rich creamy brown head. Chocolate, roasted malts, and coffee aromas with a rich malty, earthy, chocolate flavor. A long bitter chocolate finish.

Black with a tan head, aroma is licorice/chocolate with noticeable citrus hops. Flavor is very bittersweet with fairly strong hops in the finish. Leaves an almost sticky/resiny aftertaste on the palate. Overall, very well done and interesting, not what I’d expect from something with pilsner in the name.

Pours dark brown with a light bown head. Smells of a weird combination of porter and pilsner malt. Tastes off and strange. Not my thing.

12 oz. bottle - clear, dark bornw pour with thick, light tan head lingering; rich nose is a mix of chocolate, hop spiciness, toffee and that sweet rawness reminiscent of many baltic porters; malty with a peppery bite and resin sweetness; bone dry finish; tasty mix of an almost orange fruitiness with bitter, spicy hops; almost has a baltic IPA feel to it (new style, new style!!!!) strong, flavorful stuff indeed, but perhaps not as together as it could be

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, roasted malt, and citrus hops. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a one inch khaki head with good retention. The flavor starts with chocolate and a hint of caramel. There’s some light roastiness in the background. The finish has moderate citrus hops and alcohol. Medium bodies with moderate carbonation.

12oz bottle 9/23/09 (Coaltrain-Colorado Springs)-Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of hops, roasted malt, and chocolate. Taste of the same with some sweetness and caramel. This medium bodied brew is not bad but a lot going on.
