| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Bottle… Pours midnight black with a small, ultra-creamy, mushroom-colored head. Decent retention. The nose offers notes of roasted grains, cocoa, espresso, leather, ethanol and earthy hops. Full-bodied with a slick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Rich chocolate and caramel sweetness up front followed by charcoal and grapefruit bitterness that lingers well into the finish and beyond. Very nice beer. Cletus (5060), Connecticut, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2009 12oz bottle from Charles Street Liquors, Boston MA. Very dark brown, thin collar of foam. Strong hop presence on the nose - more pine than pilsner. Initial impression on the palate is sweetish and fruity, with developing chocolate and a powerful US hop character. Also a touch of roasty malt. Distinctly bitter with some warming, but not too burning, alcohol. A tasty, flavourful brew. Came over to me more like a dark IPA than a Pilsner though.

Poured black color with an average frothy off-white head that was lasting and produced good lacing. Good moderate to heavy hop, roasted malt and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth sticky texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with with a moderate bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.
This is a standout beer. Skyview (4104), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
