( 12oz bottle, courtesy of BMan1113VR ) Pours a mahogany body with a small beige head. Aroma of grain, grass, apricot, pineapple, apple, cocoa, and grapefruit. Flavor of roasted malt, grass, orange, coffee, chocolate, bread, and grapefruit. Quite complex and interesting experimental brew.

Bottle… Pours midnight black with a small, ultra-creamy, mushroom-colored head. Decent retention. The nose offers notes of roasted grains, cocoa, espresso, leather, ethanol and earthy hops. Full-bodied with a slick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Rich chocolate and caramel sweetness up front followed by charcoal and grapefruit bitterness that lingers well into the finish and beyond. Very nice beer.

Pours dark brown with a light bown head. Smells of a weird combination of porter and pilsner malt. Tastes off and strange. Not my thing.

12oz bottle from Charles Street Liquors, Boston MA. Very dark brown, thin collar of foam. Strong hop presence on the nose - more pine than pilsner. Initial impression on the palate is sweetish and fruity, with developing chocolate and a powerful US hop character. Also a touch of roasty malt. Distinctly bitter with some warming, but not too burning, alcohol. A tasty, flavourful brew. Came over to me more like a dark IPA than a Pilsner though.

Bottle from Jungle Jim’s. Poured black color with an average frothy off-white head that was lasting and produced good lacing. Good moderate to heavy hop, roasted malt and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth sticky texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with with a moderate bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Sampled during MN Gathering 2.5. From a 12-oz bottle pours an opaque dark brown colored brew with a creamy tan head that has some nice retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted dark malt, some molasses, brown sugar, a hint of raison and citrus. Taste is full bodied, with flavors of toasted dark malt, some chocolate, citrus and some herbs. Finish is slightly boozy with dark malt, and some mild spice that lingers after the finish.
