12oz bottle. Clear red-black body with small tan head. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit, chocolate, some earthy, honey, light mint. Taste is moderately sweet, roast, chocolate, earthy, some grapefruit, alcohol warming, light mint. Medium-full body, some stickiness.

Nov 29, 2009 bottle, from Julio’s. Good aroma, peat, chocolate, pine. Brownish black color, good head and lace, Bitter flavor. Medium body, Lite creamy smooth mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Good brew, great aroma actually, found it fascinating. Might be a turn off for some. Mighty bitter flavor, had a hint of whiskey about it. Not one I’d drink all day, nor can I, ha ha, but a good beer to have tried. Had a odd mix as far as the mouthfeel, the body was more than the texture...

Nov 23, 2009 Bottle... Poured near black with a huge, beige head. Roasted nose, grainy and boozy as well. Hoppy brew, nice balance of grains and yeast. Sweet and cookie-like bread notes. Smoked essence in the finish.

Nov 21, 2009 Pours black with a creamy tan head. The aroma is potent and hoppy with pine, coffee, ethanol, caramel, and toffee. Some slight roast and citrus. Strange combination of aromas, but it works. The flavor is very well balanced with honey, caramel, toffee, chocolate, citrus fruits and a grapefruity finish. Some roasted coffee notes in the background. Very enjoyable. Normally I’m not a big fan of collaboration beers, but these Stone offerings have been superb.

Nov 20, 2009 Pours black, very little head. Aroma of anise and eucalyptus, backbone of some caramel. Little sweetness and then an astringent bitter finish. Certainly unique. Great mouthfeel and ABV hidden well.

Nov 17, 2009 Aroma is charcoal, wood and hops. Pours a black color with tan lacing. Refreshing, despite the color. Beautiful beer with notes of dark fruits, leathery malt and a clean finish.

Nov 13, 2009 Tasted 11/12/09. 12oz bottle. Dark with a syrupy brown hue. Khaki head. Aromas of raisins and graham crackers. Medium bodied with a nice dry finish. Totally English style. Smooth malts and dry mildly hoppy finish. This was really good.

Nov 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours a black body with a tan head. Roasted coffee notes, caramel, light chocolate. Birch, licorice, extremely bitter licorice, and ginger root. Its so dam bitter i had a tough time racing thru a bottle. The 10% is virtually non existent vs the bitterness.

Nov 9, 2009 12oz bottle from Charles Street Liquors, Boston MA. Very dark brown, thin collar of foam. Strong hop presence on the nose - more pine than pilsner. Initial impression on the palate is sweetish and fruity, with developing chocolate and a powerful US hop character. Also a touch of roasty malt. Distinctly bitter with some warming, but not too burning, alcohol. A tasty, flavourful brew. Came over to me more like a dark IPA than a Pilsner though.
