| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Opaque copper pour covered by a large, generous light beige foam which displays fair stickiness. Agreeable floral aroma bears rosewater connotations. Strong honeyed note are both present in the nose and on the palate as heavy residual sugars are detracting a bit from drinkability. It’s not so explosive an aroma really, exotic fruits barely manage to climb through the bready sugars. A fair bitterness closes it up and the palate feels airy enough not to be syrupy, but it feels quite simple and not necessarily optimizing that great hop varietal.

The flavor is sweet with notes of citrus, spruce, fruit and caramel. It’s a delicious beer. LinusStick (1841), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Blah. Not very good by American IPA standards. Aroma was very weak. A light hoppiness with ginger and flowers. Pour was a cloudy light gold/orange with a thin off white film for a head. Taste was very odd. There was a a strong floral flavor with a little lemon and not much else. Little to no carbonation. Not very IPA-like in my opinion. CaptainCougar (5454), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma of floral sweet honey and black pepper with a touch of grassy citrus hops. Starts with average fullness and a light caramel and honey sweetness along with peppery floral spice and fresh grassy hop bitterness before a crisp clean bittersweet finish. A pretty interesting and drinkable brew. argo0 (6897), Washington DC, USA

Soft medium body, light acidity. Travlr (727), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Appearance is deep amber orange with a large thick off white head and excellent lacing.
Smell is very subtle, just a bit of citrus and some floral notes.
Taste is rich malt, grapefruit, and a background of black pepper. Dry, with a moderately bitter finish.
Great body, very nice IPA, not over the top, complex flavor. DJMonarch (6845), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Big hop aroma. Golden coloured and strong in alcohol with a fruity pine flavour. A little dryness in a crisp and very bitter finish. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 5, 2009 Musty aroma of british malts and mild apples. Hazy amber in color with a rocky head and some lacing. Rather mush flavor of light caramel, english malt and the interesting hop. The yeast gives mild fruitiness and bears a resemblance to Rogue Brutal Bitter. Not bad, but Alpine’s Nelson showcases this hop a bit more. CapedBrewsader (260), Brasschaat, Belgium
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2009 33cl bottle at home: hazy orange amber beer with seemingly low co2 forming a thin unstable yellowed head. Resinous hops rise from the glass drizzeled caramel. Slightly minerally points in the overall sweet sugar coated hops. Touches of biscuit and light solvent. Flavor is big resinous waves of piney and citrus hops. Surprisingly the hops are un-Nelson Sauvin like. I miss the gooseberries. Lightly toasted bread comes in and out before pale malt and caramel try to push everything out. The hops proove to be too powerful for the struggling malt which runs off into the sunset, chased by a regiment of earthy hops.
