Sampled at Blacklick Wine and Spirits weekly tasting. This was an odd bird.Poured golden with a hefty nose of hops. Flavor was of medium bitterness, with some citrus notes but what was odd was a slight detection of cheese. This finished long, had to get some pretzels to rinse my mouth.

Bottle: Hazy orange with a dense off white film. Sweet cookieish malt aroma with apparent caramel, dough, and some mild pine & grapefuit. Slick with mild carbonation- cask-like feel. Sugary and citric flavor upfront- lots of caramel & honeyish maltose with a cookie like character throughout followed by a grapefruit and late long piny finish. A bit in-cohesive and sugary in it’s sugary fore and that abrupt piny bitterness. Eh.

Sad dull copper body with a pathetic looking cap floating on top. Watered down dull caramel malts, pine/floral hops and sweet aroma. WTF this is so soft and flat feeling the beer feels lifeless taste ok though I guess. Nice malty backbone with sweet floral hops and a dark bitter finish. Yecklwshabthad this feels nasty it like I’m wrapping my tongue in a slimy wet blanket. Tangerine and tobacco flavours are starting to appear. Still drinkable but I’ll never buy it again.

Cask at The Pub downtown at 4th street live. 10 oz snifter pour. Dark slightly hazy brown with a big creamy long lasting beautiful and dense white head. Nice juicy citrus hops on the aroma and flavor. A bit boozy flavor. Soo smooth and creamy and perfect on the palate: god I LOVE cask ale. Overall: a very enjoyable brew, though I cant imagine it would be too special not on cask.

Tasting at Blacklick Wine and Spirits. I assume this is the "New" version. Pour was golden in color. Aroma was hoppy and piney. Flavor was grapefruit, brown sugar and wood.

Honey and caramel sweetness along with some citrus and a strong woody character in the aroma. Clear deep golden body is topped by a low white head that recedes to a partial cover with some nice lacing. Flavour offers a round malt sweetness with some floral and citrus hop notes. Moderate bitterness and woody aftertaste. Medium body is somewhat slick in texture with fair carbonation. Snifter. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in Jun-09.

Bottle. Drank in honor of the startof the (British) Open and Milkman Dan’s 40th day of existence. Yeah, bitch, I honor you. Pours a lifeless, thin cheddar orange with a bubbly head. Aroma is sweetened chedder cheese wood plank and fruit juice. Flavor is bitter sea-water-infused grapefruit with a sour peach finish. Nice, coating mouthfeel that leaves a lingering presence on the tongue. Sour, typical UK bitterness; otherwise, too much of a good thing; unecessary.

Poured out a solid amber brew with a fair sized light tan head which is quite thick and has some decent retention and messy lacing. The aroma made me drool instantly but did not blow me away... and that drooling has now stopped - maybe I was just really craving an IIPA??? Solid malt bill followed by the sweet aromas of slightly sour orange candy, fake lime, trying to convince myself of melon but can’t quite do it and a shit load more malts. Still, it comes across quite sweet which is nice. There also a bit of alcohol in the nose as well. The taste is pretty good with the most notable quality being the oranges. Those oranges come with an interesting spice similar so something in cigars (there is no cigar flavour here at all), some obvious alcohol, spruce, heavy heavy malts - wow - nears toffee, interesting spice.. is this actually a IIPA or a barley wine? Definetly walks a line between the two. Too bad about this alcohol taste. Beer has a good chew to it with the beyond medium bodied thickness, finishes with to much alc but lots of bitterness. A good brew that is not anywhere in the same league as a really good IIPA but still really drinkable for every single sip. Long bitter finish. I’m almost annoyed that I have two more. My empty glass smelled just like honey. Another BrewDog beer not involving Whiskey that fails to impress.
