Commercial Description:
ADMIN NOTE: Brewdog have recently changed the recipe for this beer quite significantly. We are currently considering whether this change is sufficiently drastic to warrant a new listing. In the meantime could all raters ensure that they note which version they had in their rating to facilitate a split in due course, should that de deemed necessary. Whether you had the "new" or "old" version can be determined by reference to the batch number and the best before date. The newest batch is 037 and the BBD 03/09/10 (British dating) anything before this date or batch is the old version.

Pours slightly hazy yellow with very little if any head. Smells like lime with hints of other citrus and malt. Tastes like euro hops and has interesting bitter notes. It hides the alcohol well, but i am not impressed.

Bottle. (new batch -- best before 02/02/10). Aroma is surprisingly malty, along with assertive hops and some citrus. Hazy orange body, small head. Flavor is nicely bitter, and more pine than citrus. Bitter finish. Not bad, but not especially great.

Bottle, from Bartzilla. Fairly lifeless nose, nice looking amber color. Flavor is sweet, mildly hoppy and a kinda easy to drink. Just ok.

22oz brown glass bottle. Appearance: Clear and orangish amber. Almost no head but more than Punk IPA. White coating on the surface of the beer. Nose: More like Pacific Northwest IPA aromas. Caramel-like malt (label reveals it’s Maris Otter), sweetened yellow grapefruit, fresh pine needles, Douglas fir, fresh cut grass, lemon. Palate: Medium-bodied and moderately sweet for the style. Toffee joins the aromas above, plus kiwi (oddly enough), lightly toasted oak, and mixed berry hard candies. Moderate finish and fairly bitter. Notes: Like an East Coast meets West Coast IPA. Some malty sweetness and and flavor with fine dry hop character. Well made.

Bottle. Body-hazy light gold, loose foamy white ring of bubbles. Nose-lotion, light orange, light white spices, stale weak grapefruit, hops, high CO2. Taste-a little on the sweet side, piney, OK bitter level, mint/pine on the backend, tastes like a 1.5 IPA with no soul. OK, but nothing to write home about.

Bottle. Golden orange color with a small white head. Spicy, citric hop aroma. Ruddy, appley malt character with a spicy and earthy hop component. Slightly medicinal hop flavors in the finish with stale caramel. Mouthfeel is a heavy medium, somewhat drying.

There is nothing Hardcore about this beer. I think they should leave it to the US to brew these. No hop aroma or flavour.
