Commercial Description:
ADMIN NOTE: Brewdog have recently changed the recipe for this beer quite significantly. We are currently considering whether this change is sufficiently drastic to warrant a new listing. In the meantime could all raters ensure that they note which version they had in their rating to facilitate a split in due course, should that de deemed necessary. Whether you had the "new" or "old" version can be determined by reference to the batch number and the best before date. The newest batch is 037 and the BBD 03/09/10 (British dating) anything before this date or batch is the old version.

Filtered bottle and sometimes available as a special in the cask.
"Explicit Imperial Ale".
Ingredients: Barley, hops, yeast, water.

Bottled. A copper coloured beer with a tiny off white head. The aroma has big sticky hops and a bit of glue. The taste is the same with loads of hops. Notes of grapes. Decent but a bit chewy and a little unbalanced Score 3.5
Subsequent rating scored 3.8, 3.8 and 4.3. Average becomes 3.8

Interesting cereal taste to this beer. Nicely backboned, but not a hell of a lot otherwise. Looks like natural cider and tastes almost a bit like it too. Increased overall impression score due to its uniqueness, but wouldnt buy this again.

Orange colored brew. Hoppy aroma. Flavor is hoppy and fruity, malty and smooth bitterness. Could use more aggressive hops.

Batch 002, bb date 7/7/09. Cloudy dark yellow honey color with a thin white head that never fully covers, just leaving a ring. Citrus and grapefruit hop aroma. Taste is lots of citrus and spicy hops with lightly grassy malt notes.

660 ml, batch 002. Clear, orange-gold with a small spit of a head that leaves a bit of frost. Earthy resin, caramel and lemon aroma. Flavor is similar, with the lemon, resin and woody hops bringing it on at the finish. Light-medium body is smooth, slightly hop-tingly and dryish.

Bomber, shared with Parksy and company at The Local in San Diego. Cloudy straw yellow, absolutely NO HEAD (just like Rosser’s room and life). Aroma of cooked peaches, apricots and wet straw. Very malty, cereal and straw, chamomile, melon liqueur, with a peach pit bitterness in the finish.
