Commercial Description:
ADMIN NOTE: Brewdog have recently changed the recipe for this beer quite significantly. We are currently considering whether this change is sufficiently drastic to warrant a new listing. In the meantime could all raters ensure that they note which version they had in their rating to facilitate a split in due course, should that de deemed necessary. Whether you had the "new" or "old" version can be determined by reference to the batch number and the best before date. Moderate hops. Clear gold color. Light hops flavor and a solid palate. Some citrus and a little pine. I am surprised the alcohol is so high, it was well hidden in the flavor.

Bottle from Brewdog web shop. Citrusy aroma. Hops and butter tasting. I shared the bottle and it was enough since it got kind of repeating.

Cloudy gold pour with no head at all but still lively carbonation. Decent lacing. Aroma and taste are very similar. Citrus hops mild malt and a semi sweet but bitter finish. This was more of a hoppy barleywine to me. $7 a bomber.

Bottle. Cloudy copper pour with a huge white head. Somewhat hoppy nose, but the malt, yeast and butter dominate. Hoppy flavor with a sweet malt balance, some pepper and a buttery finish. Not bad, but would have preferred for the hops to be more pronounced.

This was one of the better regular brewdogs we got in. A little maltier but the butteryness and faint spices made a spectacular balance to the hops.

Bottle. It pours an orange-yellow body under a quite small off-white head. Malty on the nose, some beefstock, and a good dash of hops giving pinecone scents and some tropical fruits. Mostly hop driven flavor with pinecones, peach and other tropical fruits. Medium heavy malty background with sweetness and some beef-stock. Full-bodied and almost astringently bitter. Bitter finish. The beer has a fine hop profile, but lacks a bit on the maltyness. Imperial American Pale Ale more than Double IPA. Lovely though. (081031)
