Commercial Description:
ADMIN NOTE: Brewdog have recently changed the recipe for this beer quite significantly. We are currently considering whether this change is sufficiently drastic to warrant a new listing. In the meantime could all raters ensure that they note which version they had in their rating to facilitate a split in due course, should that de deemed necessary. Whether you had the "new" or "old" version can be determined by reference to the batch number and the best before date. The newest batch is 037 and the BBD 03/09/10 (British dating) anything before this date or batch is the old version.

weak nose of stale hops & fermented fruit. Alcoholic, spicy and slightly syrupy flavors but the aren’t especially appealing. There does seem to be a bit of bitterness behind everything which is interesting coming from scotland, but really...i don’t think Scotland was meant to brew ipa’s.

Bottle (batch 207) from Plaza Liquors - Pours a clear golden color with a 1/2 finger thick off white head. Lacing is a nice coverage of tiny spots. Aroma is toasted doughy malt, fruity esters, and floral hops. Flavor is sweetened toasted malt, esters, and a lighter hop presence than I expected. I get a hint of metal in the finish. Medium body. A decent beer, but lacks a little in all departments.

Bottle from Bev’s for Less. Pours a lightly hazed medium golden color with a soapy white head that became non existent. Nose was very sweet and fruity. Flavor was sweet with very light bitterness.

Batch 1, Best Before 03/03/2009. 22.4 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a moderate linen white head that lasted through two-thirds of the glass and left very nice lace webbing. Pleasant aroma of malt, pine and citrus, although none of these is particularly strong. The flavor is similar with moderate amounts of malt, pine and citrus. This is certainly a mellow DIPA in terms of aroma and flavor, but is enjoyable. A bit pricey though at $13.50 for a bottle, so I’m not all that likely to have another go at this one anytime soon.

Bottle at home. BBD 31/12/2008. Hazy yellow with a small head, some lacings. Aroma heavy malty (caramel) and hoppy (citrus notes). Flavor heavy sweet and bitter, despite that smooth. Full body. Delicious.

Tasting - Perfect Pour. Gold, thin white head. Soft aromas of citrus and cedar wood warm to a light swirls of caramel. Tangerine and tropical fruit flavors ride notes of toffee from start to finish. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. A mellow D-IPA that seemed to work for me...

Light golden in color with a light head. Smell is hops, citrus, and earthy. Taste is really hopy, bitter. A little bit like cleaning fluid. Ok but could be better.

Cask @ Coles, Buffalo NY. Lighter amber golden, aromas of sweet malts, fruity hop presence to boot. Marmalade like sweetness up front. floral notes, nice bitterness in the finish, nicely balanced that could use more bitterness.
