Commercial Description:
ADMIN NOTE: Brewdog have recently changed the recipe for this beer quite significantly. We are currently considering whether this change is sufficiently drastic to warrant a new listing. In the meantime could all raters ensure that they note which version they had in their rating to facilitate a split in due course, should that de deemed necessary. Whether you had the "new" or "old" version can be determined by reference to the batch number and the best before date. The newest batch is 037 and the BBD 03/09/10 (British dating) anything before this date or batch is the old version. Newer batches will probably appear before we have this sorted out.

Filtered bottle and sometimes available as a special in the cask.
"Explicit Imperial Ale".
Ingredients: Barley, hops, yeast, water.

Cask, 2nd annual Buffalo Cask Festival @ Cole’s. Nose is caramel, a bit of piney hops, but mostly alcohol & medicinal aromas. Flavor is caramel, honey, piney hops, a little resin. Bitter largely toffee finish. Kind of like an old bottle of DFH 90 minute.

Pale golden of color iwth a white longlasting head. An aroma of grass, grapefruits, citrus and hops. A flavor of sweet malt, grapefruit and hops.

Pours very clear golden with a sticky dirty white head. Aroma is lemon zest, grass, and sweet toasted malts. Nowhere near the hop character that this should have. This beer tastes very soapy. There’s lots of hops there, but they are not the right type of hops. They taste very earthy and herbal. There’s quite a bit of malt here, which tastes good. But this isn’t quite right. Big sticky mouthfeel. Slick with a alcohol finish that reminds me of mouthwash. Hmmm. I really wanted to like this beer, but it just does not work too well.

Cask. Pours gold with a white head. Hoppy aroma, floral and citric. The flavor focuses more on bitterness than actual hop flavor. Some notes of citrus, pine and caramel malt. I would not describe this beer as graceful.

Bottle. Golden clear colour with white head. Flowers and hops in the nose and lots of grass and hops in the flavour. A bit too heavy at the finish.
