| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Bottle. (new batch -- best before 02/02/10). Aroma is surprisingly malty, along with assertive hops and some citrus. Hazy orange body, small head. Flavor is nicely bitter, and more pine than citrus. Bitter finish. Not bad, but not especially great. smith4498 (954), Miami, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Bottle courtesy of growler. Pours dark golden color with minimal white head. Mild hop aroma for a DIPA. Flavor is bitter pine hops, lemon and slight malt sweetness. Medium body with lively carbonation and a rough finish. I was hoping for more. tennisjoel (952), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 15, 2009 Very sweet malty aroma. Clear red orange pour with a small white head and good lacing. Definitely a change from your usual IIPA. A little bitter, but the diecytal note (and butterscotch) is strong and to make it enjoyable. I was able to finish this, but I won’t be trying this again. Somewhat of a letdown. VTHopHead (937), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2010 Bottle/22 - New recipe - Poured a golden amber in color with a medium foamy white head that faded a bit, but still produced some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma was quite hoppy... grassy with some citrus... and some caramel in the background. Flavor was all hops up front (citrus/grapefruit) with a caramel/burnt sugar backbone. A decent IIPA... worth repeating. Vertical Bacon Strips (924), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Poured out a solid amber brew with a fair sized light tan head which is quite thick and has some decent retention and messy lacing. The aroma made me drool instantly but did not blow me away... and that drooling has now stopped - maybe I was just really craving an IIPA??? Solid malt bill followed by the sweet aromas of slightly sour orange candy, fake lime, trying to convince myself of melon but can’t quite do it and a shit load more malts. Still, it comes across quite sweet which is nice.
There also a bit of alcohol in the nose as well. The taste is pretty good with the most notable quality being the oranges. Those oranges come with an interesting spice similar so something in cigars (there is no cigar flavour here at all), some obvious alcohol, spruce, heavy heavy malts - wow - nears toffee, interesting spice.. is this actually a IIPA or a barley wine? Definetly walks a line between the two. Too bad about this alcohol taste. Beer has a good chew to it with the beyond medium bodied thickness, finishes with to much alc but lots of bitterness. A good brew that is not anywhere in the same league as a really good IIPA but still really drinkable for every single sip. Long bitter finish. I’m almost annoyed that I have two more. My empty glass smelled just like honey. Another BrewDog beer not involving Whiskey that fails to impress. JoeinUccle (911), Brussels, Belgium
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2009 Bottle pours golden amber, a bit viscous, with some sparse white bubbles once the initial head fades. Incredibly fruity hop nose, with peaches, pineapple and other tropical fruit, grapefruit, and so on. Initial syrupy sweetness rolls into a firm, ass-whooping bitterness. Tongue-coatingly, resinously bitter aftertaste. Extreme in all the places you’d expect, I guess. A bit more carbonation would help scrub that gunk off my tongue. Fun to smell and taste, though.
