Commercial Description:
ADMIN NOTE: Brewdog have recently changed the recipe for this beer quite significantly. We are currently considering whether this change is sufficiently drastic to warrant a new listing. In the meantime could all raters ensure that they note which version they had in their rating to facilitate a split in due course, should that de deemed necessary. Whether you had the "new" or "old" version can be determined by reference to the batch number and the best before date. The newest batch is 037 and the BBD 03/09/10 (British dating) anything before this date or batch is the old version.

Golden, slightly hazy with a medium and creamy head. The aroma has nice fruity, citrussy hoppy notes with hints of spruce. The flavour is nice and fruity with notes of citrus, pine needle, loads of caramel and a light sweetness. The finish has bitterness, citrus, pine and towards the end it’s quite dry too. It’s not as bitter as many of the US specimens, but very tasty anyhow.

New version. Bottled. Blonde. Pineapple, grapefruit and oily and flowery hops in both aroma and flavor. Good mix of tropical fruit and hopbitterness. Just a bit alcoholic, but tasty and well balanced.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Blackfriars. Attractive amber gold with a slight but stable white head. Lovely peachy hop aroma with some slight amyl nitrate like alcohol. Very hoppy flavour with clear alcohol but in a very tasty way. Peach and grapefruit notes with bags of bite. Bitter finish. Very good.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph. Pours a beautiful clear golden copper-like with a small white-ish head. Average lacing. Aroma is heavily fruity hoppy, lots of oranges, pineapple and grapefruit. Quite low carbonation, somehow oily mouthfeel. Flavour is initially quite sticky sweet, then suddenly turns heavily hoppy. Not only that, it is very bitter as well. Pine, pineapple, caramel, apples, elderberries and very, very dry. Somehow Brewdog manages to merge the American and British IPA into something far more potent. Still prefer the elegance and puntuality of the Punk IPA.

Bottle acquired in trade with alexsdad06. Bottle labeled batch 001 BB 03/03/08. Poured a medium and hazy golden color with a larger sized white head. Aromas of citrus, caramel, and floral. Tastes of caramel, sugary sweetness, pine, and citrus. Overly sweet without a bitter balance. Alcohol content well hidden. Some lacing left on the glass.

Comments: Very sweet IPA with rather extreme maltiness, highly fruity (pumpkin, peach, dried apricot) and swiftly switching to alcohol/dry/bitter citrus fruits with no warning.
