Commercial Description:
ADMIN NOTE: Brewdog have recently changed the recipe for this beer quite significantly. We are currently considering whether this change is sufficiently drastic to warrant a new listing. In the meantime could all raters ensure that they note which version they had in their rating to facilitate a split in due course, should that de deemed necessary. Whether you had the "new" or "old" version can be determined by reference to the batch number and the best before date. The newest batch is 037 and the BBD 03/09/10 (British dating) anything before this date or batch is the old version. Newer batches will probably appear before we have this sorted out.

Filtered bottle and sometimes available as a special in the cask.
"Explicit Imperial Ale".
Ingredients: Barley, hops, yeast, water.

I’m gettnig a big fan of IPA’s and this was bang on. Great work from the brewers. Slight bitter aftertaste but a cracking brew. Alcohol is notice able a little but in the right amount. Belter.

Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. Poured a rich pissy golden colour with a thin white head. Very fragrant hop aroma and flavour with a definite boozy streak running thru the whole gig. Good peachy citrus bite there too. Got better with each sip and left me wanting another straight away, which is always a good sign. Great bitter finish. Classy little number and the best brew dog i’ve tasted thus far.

Cask at The Pub downtown at 4th street live. 10 oz snifter pour. Dark slightly hazy brown with a big creamy long lasting beautiful and dense white head. Nice juicy citrus hops on the aroma and flavor. A bit boozy flavor. Soo smooth and creamy and perfect on the palate: god I LOVE cask ale. Overall: a very enjoyable brew, though I cant imagine it would be too special not on cask.

Bottle @ Mathouse. Pours hazy amber, thin off white head.
Peppery hop nose, not jumping out at you but still very strong.
HOPS! Massive biting hop flavour. Biting bitterness beats the tongue initially, a little caramelly malt. The hops then grab you by the collar and beat you with bitterness for the next 5 minutes. And I love it. Eventually fades to an earthy bitterness. Have this one last, it’s a palate ruiner.

A good hearty looking beer. Strong aromas here containing but not entirely restricted to: Marzipan, mango, confectioners banana, hops, sherry, butter and brandy. In the mouth the mango really hits hard with a slight metallic edge. It’s very sweet and sticky. Intensely rich also with some bitterness buy a thick fruity sweetness in the finish. Thick and boozy. Pretty special if a little odd.

Pours amber, slight head. Tropical fruit and hops on the nose, as well as in taste. Candi sugar sweetness balances out the bitterness quite well. Enjoyable.
