Whether you had the "new" or "old" version can be determined by reference to the batch number and the best before date. The newest batch is 037 and the BBD 03/09/10 (British dating) anything before this date or batch is the old version.

Tasting - Perfect Pour. Gold, thin white head. Soft aromas of citrus and cedar wood warm to a light swirls of caramel. Tangerine and tropical fruit flavors ride notes of toffee from start to finish. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. A mellow D-IPA that seemed to work for me...

Think this is old batch but date in the description is unclear. Strongly hopped nose with citrus and fresh grass. Pours medium-pale copper with a bathtub suds ring rather than a head. Flavour is potently hoppy with a slight citric sweetness (lemonadey) that quickly gives way to a long and intensely bitter finish reminiscent of one of those herbal italian digestifs such as Fenet Brahca. Very nice indeed, and if this is the old batch I will look forward to trying the new one.

Pours out in a clear golden colour with a rich white foam. Sharp, almost acidic aroma of green apples and grapefruit. Hmmm. . Almost shockingly hoppy flavour of grapefruit, wet grass and pine without almost no residual sugars at all. Medium to full bodied. Long bitter finish of wet grass, sweat and lemon. Not your typical US Impy IPA, quite weird, but still charming.

DLD, a table offering and not sure whom brought this: Yellow hue with a fizzy fading head and some lace. The aroma has notes of flowery and resiny hops, pale and biscuity malts, some pepper and clove, and some citric vapours. The taste pretty much follows suit, mostly bitterness and acidic fruit with some pale malt in the background before a peppery and slightly boozy finish. The mouth feel is metallic and chalky, aggressive carbonation, and the alcohol is noticeable. An okay DIPA but wished for a bit more depth.

1 pint, 6.4 fl oz bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Batch 001. Pours hazy orange with a small, rocky, white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, straw), heavy hops (perfume, pine, grapefruit, flowers), average yeast (dough) with notes of pear and apricot. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Much better than anything else I’ve tried from these guys...this one was drinkable!!! Crystal clear brass color with a small fizzy head that left minimal lacing. Aroma is more fruity than most IIPAs; not citrus and pine but more tropical influences of papaya and mango. Flavor is Del Monte fruit cocktail in a can and actually has a slight metallic quality. Medium mouthfeel and pretty good!!! Finally!!!

A little hazy yellow/golden colored beer, with a small foamy white head. The aroma of hops and malts. Fruits like citrus with nettle. Thetaste of hop bitter with a lot of citrus, some spices. You don’t taste the alcohol. The aftertaste is bitter.

Bottle, thanks to jjpm74. Deep golden pour. Minimal white head. Pretty hazy. First whiff reminded more of a strong pilsner than an IPA, much less a double. The more I sat with it, it took on some almost Belgian (or to be more exact, American version of Belgian) notes with some definite yeasty characteristics and sweetness. Some citrus and hops definitely present on the nose, but not so much in a DIPA way... again, more like a hoppy American Belgian style. Thick palate. Sweet flavor, with some malty biscuit action happening a bit in the back of the palate. Started to seem more like an IPA the more I drank it, but I wouldn’t consider it typical of the style. Actually more like an IPA mixed with an American Belgian Golden. Maybe my palate was ruined by drinking Hopslam earlier in the evening. I do find myself liking it more the longer I drink it. I guess folks are looking for subtlety when they pick out a Double IPA, but I think it’s an asset to this beer.
