Pretty steep price tag, but this was the first time I’d seen this stuff so I figured I’d take a chance. Nice pale golden pour with a thick creamy head that promises cask-like palate deliciousness. The aroma was muted tropical fruits crossed with some modified bready notes, not so much fig newton as Christmas cookie if that makes any sense (sweet shortbread with some light fruits maybe). The hops aren’t too face-wrecking here, no mouth-puckering citrus or grassy intensity, just a pleasant amplification of a genuine Brit-style IPA. Nice and pleasant, but maybe that’s about it. clear golden yellow, smooth white head.
flowery wooden, mellow hoppy aroma.
flavor is malt, hops, bitterhops, flowery hops, citrus.
palate is veryt smooth.
something in the hop profile is a bit strange, otherwise a decent strong hoppy ipa.

3/18/2009: I’ve really liked the last two Brew Dog brews that I have had, so I have high hopes for this one... Hardcore IPA explicit imperial ale is definitely loaded up with tasty hops. It has a huge level of perfume in both the aroma and flavor with just a touch of buttery malt. I really like the hoppy bitterness and slight alcohol bite. It really puts and aggressive front to this beer that works well. I am a bit surprised by how hazy/cloudy this golden beer is, but who really cares about the appearance anyways? That’s just a technicality that adds bonus points!

Very sweet hoppy nose. Notes of pineapple, elderflower, citrus and hint of grapefruit. Fruit, caramel and other floral mix of notes. Medium bodied with a dry texture and an average carbonation. Moderated bitter and sweet flavor. Lingering bitter floral finish. CelticBrew (713), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA

Matt looks intrigued by the beer bottle (600 ml). The beer poured a nice medium gold, forming little to no foamy head. Aroma was superb, hops, pine resins. The flavour was of a huge pine bomb, with a hint of lemons and junipers. DoBoy nearly fell out of his chair! The pine flavour is powerful. Overall a fine beer from my relatives in Scotland! onlyrocknroll (220), Cork, Ireland

Although the the flavour is quite malty and fruity, citric bitterness predominates. Medium bodied. A fine but unexceptional beer.
