for hardened hop head only.
reminiscent of the american trend of double IPAs.
This would have scored much higher but for a little harsheness and rawness round the edges. Tasted perhaops a bit young.
Still a wonderfully progressive and ’hardcore’ beer.
amazing flavours with a huge bitter bite

Aroma is fruity and fresh from hops, some malts as well. Flavor is very rich; the fruity hops along with a malty body makes for a big mouthfeel. This is intensified by the high ABV. Very nice brew and very refreshing. SFLpunk (132), South Burlington, Vermont, USA

22oz brown glass bottle.
Appearance: Clear and orangish amber. Almost no head but more than Punk IPA. White coating on the surface of the beer.
Nose: More like Pacific Northwest IPA aromas. Caramel-like malt (label reveals it’s Maris Otter), sweetened yellow grapefruit, fresh pine needles, Douglas fir, fresh cut grass, lemon.
Palate: Medium-bodied and moderately sweet for the style. Toffee joins the aromas above, plus kiwi (oddly enough), lightly toasted oak, and mixed berry hard candies. Moderate finish and fairly bitter.
Notes: Like an East Coast meets West Coast IPA. Some malty sweetness and and flavor with fine dry hop character. Well made. rabidbarfly (62), London, Surrey, England

A huge beer, worthy of it’s hardcore name, Martin & James are really producing some great beers at the moment. Look out for the How to Disappear completely next week. SamGamgee (1465), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA

Cadied grapefruit, tangerine, doughy pastry, and light spice in the aroma. The flavor is medium-sweet dough and honey malt, with lots of citrus and a medium-strong bitter finish. Very light alcohol, but enough body to indicate it’s strength, though it is not thick by any measure. There is a great balance between malt and hops, though the hops dominate slightly in the finish, as it should be in the style. Definitely a lot of American influence in this one. Colour was deep hjoney. Mouthfeel soft with some malt but predominantly hoppy with citrus. A muscat like consistency with an enduring hoppiness. TeamTrappist (412), jericho, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Bottle from batch 207. Pours a cloudy orange hue with no head. Sweet hoppy and fruity nose. Medium mouthful with a huge amount of malts. Overbalanced? I don’t think so because there are big Citrusy hop notes to match the malt. I’ve had this before and liked it less. This batch is imperial and very good.
