Commercial Description:
ADMIN NOTE: Brewdog have recently changed the recipe for this beer quite significantly. We are currently considering whether this change is sufficiently drastic to warrant a new listing. In the meantime could all raters ensure that they note which version they had in their rating to facilitate a split in due course, should that de deemed necessary. Whether you had the "new" or "old" version can be determined by reference to the batch number and the best before date. The newest batch is 037 and the BBD 03/09/10 (British dating) anything before this date or batch is the old version.

22.4oz bottle, BB 07/07/09. Small off-white head atop hazy amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, pineapple, some berry, light bread. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit/pineapple, some honey, light alcohol, bread. Kind of seems like hop extract was used. Medium-full body, low carbonation, some acidity.

bottle, from ether Julio’s or Halftime, I forget.. Good aroma, sweet. Butter scotch, in a good way though. Hazy brownish orange color, small head, faded quick, no lace. Sweet bitter flavor, Al ot of caramel for a ipa, not super hoppy. Medium body, creamy oily mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Eh, kind of confirming my feeling about Euro ipa’s, gotta be better there then here. Believe it was the most recent batch as I passed on two others form them as too close to expiration date.

27-NOV-2009, bottle @home. Batch 057 (I think - letters are very small, and ABV is high!) before date:15-11-10, so I guess this is the new version. Quite light in colour with orange hue, and almost white head. Lovely grape fruit nose. Very bitter, very little malt - unfortunately. Not so IIPA, more like a hardcore IPA.:-) Lacks some in creaminess, and is a bit onedimensional. Still I enjoy it. Especially the long lasting taste.

12 oz bottle in November (don’t know the BBD). Cloudy golden color, white head. Hoppy aroma with pine notes. Bitter, hoppy flavor with some alcohol, biscuity malts and grapefruit, dry finish. Full body, medium-light carbonation. It’s ok.

330 ml bottle (BB 30/11/10). Clear amber colour, tiny white head. NIce aroma of citrus fruits, floral hops, pine and caramel. The flavour is fruity, caramel-malty, with a long, lingering bitter finish. Medium to full-bodied, very low carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a amber orange colour with no head and not much carbonation. Real citrus aroma, the taste is like a very bitter citrus taste with a dry finish.

22.4oz bottle from batch 207 poured into a Snifter at 45°. Color is a hazy yellow orange average carbonation and a very thin head. Aroma is light with the hops showing a flowery citrus and a metallic scent on top. Starting with a bold medium bold it goes down with a sticky feel that gives a slight sharp nip on the end. Finish is rich with caramel, honey and pear then a nice bitterness rolls in with a light pine and grapefruit taste. In the after taste there is a mild bitterness but leaves you slightly clean with just a hint of alcohol. Overall this is a kick ass Imp. IPA, rich feel, even bitterness and very light on the citrus.

Appearance was floodwater muddy brown with a slight tan head and a bit of lacing. Smell was freshly mown grass and a hint of orange peel. Taste was hos, hops, hops. Dry and bitter with a hint of malt but dominant hops, very long finish with slight black pepper. Not too over the top, a good example of an American style IPA.

Bottled, Batch 002, BB 7/7/09. Poured hazy straw golden with a short, loose-bubbled white head. The aroma picked up plenty of pineapple and passion fruit over a pale and bready base.. tart and tangy with more apparent acidity than bitterness. The flavor found more pineapple in the form of meat and bitterness.. pale malts at the core didn’t factor in much.. peppery yeast joined tart pineapple and what seemed like oak on the edges.. dry, toasty, sour finish. Medium-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. the juicy pineapple was enjoyable, but the rest didn’t flow that well.
