madsberg (4360), Bangalore, India Feb 2, 2008 Bottled. Golden coloured. Unclear. Fluffy off white head. Sweetness, fruits, pine, flowers and spice in the aroma. Flavour is very herbal and piney. Has loads of spice, a tad of alcohol and some notable sweetness. Quite balanced. Medium to full bodied. Is medium to heavy bitter in the end, but a touch of sweetness balance this. Very nice.
Angeloregon (1488), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 6, 2008 Thanks to El Gordo for this bottle--Poured a rich light amber-golden body with a decent whitish top. Floral, caramel nose with a sticky, fruity hoppy presence. Mild yet sharp bitterness . Nice balance of hops and malts. A little thin on the mouthfeel, but overall, quite good. ekstedt (1703), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 2, 2008 Bottle (33 cl) from Ølbutikken. Deep clear golden, medium white head. Sweaty hops with some tropical fruits, syrupy and hayísh malt. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Good balance, long bitter finish. Quite mediocre DIPA. Ethereal (693), London, Greater London, England Jul 2, 2008 Bottle at Chris_O’s 19th April 2008 tasting. Very light orange with a decent hop aroma and flavour but strangely let down by a watery palate. Brew Dog can do better than this. BeerandBlues2 (2370), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 30, 2008 1 pint, 6.4 fl oz bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Batch 001. Pours hazy orange with a small, rocky, white head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, straw), heavy hops (perfume, pine, grapefruit, flowers), average yeast (dough) with notes of pear and apricot. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness. peter48er (51), Liverpool, Merseyside, England Jun 27, 2008 Whilst hoppiness dominates this lovely beer, very much in the US craft brewery style, it also has a sticky sweet taste, which is a perhaps a little over the top for me. Nonetheless the malt and citrus notes that also come through make this, for me, an excellent example of the IPA style. Lets have more UK beers in this style please.
