RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting at the Harlequin. Clear amber colour, creamy white head. Aroma of loads of citrus, pine, grapefruit, caramel. Flavour is malty, grapefruit, wood, firm hoppy citrus and grapefruit bitter finish. Amazing beer, so many flavours and fullbodied for such a low ABV beer. Wish I could have this all the time..

[bottle] Huge spicy and slightly herbal nose with a touch of citrusy caramel. Almost clear chestnut with a thick, lacy, off-white blanket. Spicy and quite bitter hops juice with not a whole lot of malt to hold it up. Spicy and slightly vegetal pine with a little bit of bitter lemon peel. Mouth puckering bitterness pervades throughout. Medium carbonation, light body.

Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Clear deep red/brown - white head. High hoppy, vegetables, resin, high bitterness, tobacco, grape, light malty sweetness, light chocolate, all the rest is pure hoppiness, licorice. Total hop-burn !!!

Gorgeous clear amber-to-copper colour with a lasting off-white head. Strong c-hop aroma, citrus with a little pine and peach, with just a little caramel in the background. Extremely hoppy and bitter flavour, with a little malt, but obviously lacking body to match the hops. But who cares about that with such a bold beer? Long and violent grapefruity hop aftertaste. If all 3.5% beers were like this, the world would be a better place.

Freakin’ awesome! Totally over-kill hops, but in a cool and extravagant way. I love when things are taken to the extreme and it sure is here. You don’t expect to be hop-burning for hours from a 3,5% brew, but this one sure makes your mouth sore. Well done BrewDog, to me the no. 1 of the Ultralights!

A Mes rate: Gravicask cellar run at the Rake thanks to Tom.
Awesome chestnut brown colour with a short lived bubbly white head. Amazing bright assertive hoppage in the aroma. Full of citrus and grassy stuff. So much so, it brings on my hayfever. Fantastic underlying blend of pale and chocolate malt character too. Flavour... shit the bed. This stuff is amazing. The dark coffee malt character comes through really well and it fights with the insane hops for top place. It’s a really good fight. Kinda like watching Abby Clancy mud wrestle with Emma Pierson. It’s a thing of both beauty and extreme, violent excellence. The finish is epic. Rarely do coffee and hops come together quite so well. The aftertaste just goes on and on. Big stinging hops, glorious fresh peaty earth, tangerine, dry roasted beans and burnt toast. Christ on a big sodding bike, it’s a belter. It’s kinda like a Bodacious Black and Tan Lite. But it’s more than that. A top drawer beer there is no doubt. And all this from a scoop that’s 3.5%! Brewdog, I love you.

Bottle 33cl.
Clear medium orange amber color with a average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, pinewood - resin, grapefruit. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Just how much aroma and flavor in 3.5% ;O)) [20090516]
