Commercial Description:
Nanny State is mild imperial ale containing more hops per barrel than any other beer ever brewed in the UK. It is an extraordinary little ale jammed full of all the brewer’s favorite hops giving it as much body and mouthy feel as possible, ensuring that low strength does not translate into reduced flavour. Nanny State, takes the low ABV hop-bomb concept to the next level and is so low in alcohol it is below the legal classification of beer and not strong enough to be subject to beer duty. We believe we have created a new beer category - The Imperial Mild - with Nanny State and How to Disappear Completely.

Bottle from cgarvieuk, thanks Craig! Dark brown color. Tremendous aroma of oily hops, melon and red berries. Thin and watery, but also an oily hopbitter flavor, earthy with plastic and red berries and a hint of licorice. Long aftertaste. Perfect beer if you have to drive and want to drink a bit.

Cask conditioned handpump The Rake London. An amber coloured beer with a ruby hue and a loose whitish head. Great hoppy aroma with citrus bitterness. very bitter in mouth with full on hops. A little thin in the malt level and with a slight papery tone but so much better than I imagined and with the qualities of a 3-4% beer. A super little beer.

An initial strong hoppy aroma and surprisingly deep colour was let down by a lack of depth of flavour. Tast was one of overriding bitterness that lingered. An interesting beer for the ABV but still a bit disappointing.

Bottles in various locations. Lots of hops in the nose, strong bitter flavour. Intense hoppiness. Loads of unfermented malt makes a weird balance at the end. Endless bitter tail, could last for days...

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a clear deep amber with a small off-white head leaving laces. Intense citrusy hop aroma with some caramel. Thin, thin body, caramel and lovely citrusy hops. Amazing hop burn burn in the finish. Nice one. 161209

Beautiful dark amber with a big off-white head. Intense hop aroma, with green hops, citrus, pine, along with notes of tea, and a faint hint of diacetyl and caramel. Dry and thing hop tea flavour with some decent toffee and crystal malt notes. Hard to see how it could be done better

dark amber, light brown smooth head. lots of hops, some flowery, a lot bitter. flavor is watery, not that hoppy again, dark caramel, faint spices. hops were a lot more present int the aroma, than the taste. ends hoppy bitter.
