| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown in color with a smaller beige head. Aroma is rich and thick with sweet maltiness, roast, sweet bourbon and woody notes. The taste comes out much weaker than the nose. Malts, lighter roast, smoke, some faint bourbon, and maybe a bit of chocolate. Not that every taste needs to be an assault on the palate, but this just seems a bit weaker than it should be... bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA

Whiskey and rich malt flavor with some nuttiness, vanilla, oak, and chocolate. Medium bodied. Lower carbonation. Vanilla, whiskey, and rich malt lingers. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2009 This was interesting enough, but I really expected there to be a stronger scotch quality to the beer and in the end as it warmed there was, but just not what I was expecting. Typical qualities of an Imperial Stout are present, with just a hint of smokiness, lots of roasted chocolate and a strong graham cracker maltiness throughout. This just needs a little more oomph for my tastes. Ughsmash (3999), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Bottled. Poured clear medium-deep brown with a dusting of tan head. The aroma picked up molasses, dark chocolate, and black patent malts with a softer whiskey barrel overhead (on the sweet side with toasty caramel, older oak, and a touch of smoke).. well-balanced. The flavor opened with a touch of sourness from the whiskey and oak, rolling into molasses, tar, and coffee at the core.. whiskey was a little more prevalent than the nose, carrying through to a slight kick after the finish.. spicy and peppery around the edges, joined by more of the oak.. finished spicy and warm. Medium-plus bodied with lower carbonation, resulting in a bit of a syrupy feel.. the barrel character worked well with the stout, but it just felt a little too clean to me. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Rich aroma is oily, smoky, strongly of molasses with a firm undertone of fine mocha. It pours a dark chocolate brown with a thick grayish tan and none too persistent head. Flavor is mainly of molasses with an overtone of fine roast coffee and more than a hint of chocolate and toffee. The taste fairly fills the mouth - just a sip delights the entire tongue. Texture is slick, thick and a little tingly. Recommended to all "Stouties." TampaBrew (805), Tampa, Florida, USA

Flavor was much of the same with some whiskey and slight wood character. Nice sipper. kiefdog (1586), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2009 Thanks fishingnet (?) for the share. Pours dark cola brown with an off-white head. Nose is some dark chocolate with some smoke, barrel, and malt. Flavor is a bit fizzy but oak, alcohol, chocolate, some coffee, and a nice sweetness to it. Nice beer, gets better as it warms and laces the glass up nicely with its medium-bodied self.
