waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Feb 19, 2009 bottle. really enjoyed this one. Black pour with almost no head. Sweet molasses, wood, light scotch, chocolate aroma. Aroma is complex but not extremely powerful. Smooth. Smoked woody, chocolate, roasted malt. Subtle and smooth as all hell. Very nice. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Feb 1, 2009 Thick like the others and quite a bit of fruit. Lots of malt, but not as much as the Speyside or Macallan. Some chocolate. it is good, but not much sign of the scotch. kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 29, 2009 12oz bottle, best by 12/12/09. Pours deep brown, capped with a thin khaki head. Beautiful aroma, with vanilla, dark fruit, chocolate, and scotch. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, vanilla, butterscotch, dark fruit, scotch and toffee. Coffee and vanilla finish, with some scotch highlights. Excellent beer; my favorite Paradox thus far. Snojerk321 (1914), San Diego, California, USA Jan 28, 2009 12oz bottle from South Bay Drug and Liquor. Pours a deep brown with a this beige head. Nose of dark pit fruits, toffee, oak, light vanilla notes. A little less viscous than expected. A great brew, a little underrated in my opinion. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Jan 23, 2009 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Deep brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma is of rich chocolate and oak. Flavor is of roasted malts, chocolate and oak. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Jan 14, 2009 Dark brown pour, not especiallyheavy looking, with nearly no head at all. Rich chocolate aroma with subtle whiskey and wood undertones. Semi-sweet palate of chocolate, tobacco, and some subtle vanilla oakiness. Much more nuanced than expected, and lighter than expected given a beer of this size. The alcohol is completely hidden within its richness. Another wonderful brew. daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Dec 23, 2008 Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and some good scotch notes. Flavor is rich with notes of scotch, vanilla, chocolate and burned wood. Another good one. I love these beers. tronraner (1905), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Dec 18, 2008 12 oz bottle, tasted side by side with the Speyside batch 005. Pours black with thin dark beige head. Aroma is espresso, chocolate, barrel char, oak, vanilla. The flavor is quite rich, with an impressive peat smoke quality. There is bitter chocolate and oaken vanilla, as well as a pleasant roastiness. The finish has some ashy sourness and a little bit of alcohol, but it is not as boozy as some of the others in the series. Good stuff.
