Dark brown pour, not especiallyheavy looking, with nearly no head at all. Rich chocolate aroma with subtle whiskey and wood undertones. Semi-sweet palate of chocolate, tobacco, and some subtle vanilla oakiness. Much more nuanced than expected, and lighter than expected given a beer of this size. The alcohol is completely hidden within its richness. Another wonderful brew.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and some good scotch notes. Flavor is rich with notes of scotch, vanilla, chocolate and burned wood. Another good one. I love these beers.

12 oz bottle, tasted side by side with the Speyside batch 005. Pours black with thin dark beige head. Aroma is espresso, chocolate, barrel char, oak, vanilla. The flavor is quite rich, with an impressive peat smoke quality. There is bitter chocolate and oaken vanilla, as well as a pleasant roastiness. The finish has some ashy sourness and a little bit of alcohol, but it is not as boozy as some of the others in the series. Good stuff.

Bottle. Pours black with an average, frothy, light brown head, somewhat lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt -molasses, chocolate-, light hops -herbs-, heavy yeast -horse blanket, leather- with notes of alcohol, prunes, wood, and vanilla. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness and bitterness, light acidity.

Pours black with a nice thin layer of head that fades faster than super man can jump over a building. WOW there is some seriously huge chocolate, coffee and caramel. You can taste the sweetness of the chocolate but it is overshadowed by the flavor from the barrel. Damn good, damn good! There is little carbonation but that is fine it is smooth and very easy to drink. Drink it up while it’s here. Could be gone in a matter of minutes.
