Bottle... Post RBSG ’08 O-Town/Vero Beach Throwdown Chapter 8... This beer rocks! ... Pours black with a creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. Understated, earthy, acrid aroma offers up subtle notes of chocolate, tobacco, wood and smoke. Full-bodied and velvety with medium carbonation. Balanced nicely. Sweet chocolate; bitter, woodsy alcohol. Chocolaty finish. Thanks go out to growler for sharing this world class bottle of beer!

Pours a semi-transparent dark mahogany with a thin, wispy light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel with some smoky peat, roasty malt and dark chocolate. Body starts fairly full and dark caramely sweet with good complex dark chocolate and coffee notes. Finishes slightly drier with mild Scotch character. Pretty subdued compared to the other Paradox beers.

Wow, I found a bottle of this at State Line. What a find. Pours onyx with dark brown edges and 1-finger tan head. Nose is roasty dark malt, prune, cherry, oats, some rauchy notes, hops, peaty scotch, and molasses. Very complex aroma. Tastes dark malty, roasty, peaty, with lactic oaty notes, prune, port wine, brown sugar, molasses, and subdued peat mossy spirit notes. The palate is complex, fairly rich, and stays quaffable from beginning to end. Brewdog makes some innovative, ballsy, and downright delicious beers.

Bottle from PC Market of Choice, Eugene, OR. Near opaque brown black color with dark garnet hilites. The head is itty tan bubbles. Aromas of scotch whiskey and dark toasted malt. Medium body with very slight carbonation. Flavor is oak, burnt toast, cola, and more. Finish is slightly sweet, balanced by burnt malt bitter. Incredibly smooth, so drinkable. O- M- G-- it’s g---. Seems to get drier with repetition.

In What Completes my Brewdog Set (so far) I have to say a big thanks to Crosling for this one ... Shared in the Aftermath of De Molen in our 30 Beer Breakfast bash ... This was one of the better paradoxes ... deep black ... soft roast malt nose ...rich chocolate fruityness ... deep roast ... little coffee..

Bottled. Poured clear medium-deep brown with a dusting of tan head. The aroma picked up molasses, dark chocolate, and black patent malts with a softer whiskey barrel overhead (on the sweet side with toasty caramel, older oak, and a touch of smoke).. well-balanced. The flavor opened with a touch of sourness from the whiskey and oak, rolling into molasses, tar, and coffee at the core.. whiskey was a little more prevalent than the nose, carrying through to a slight kick after the finish.. spicy and peppery around the edges, joined by more of the oak.. finished spicy and warm. Medium-plus bodied with lower carbonation, resulting in a bit of a syrupy feel.. the barrel character worked well with the stout, but it just felt a little too clean to me.

Bottle. Pours a brown black body with a thin tan head. Woody roast y a hint of maple vanilla and dry woody highland scotch like imparted flavors. Sweet with a moderate warming. Good brew overall.
