Bottle from PC Market of Choice, Eugene, OR. Near opaque brown black color with dark garnet hilites. The head is itty tan bubbles. Aromas of scotch whiskey and dark toasted malt. Medium body with very slight carbonation. Flavor is oak, burnt toast, cola, and more. Finish is slightly sweet, balanced by burnt malt bitter. Incredibly smooth, so drinkable. O- M- G-- it’s g---. Seems to get drier with repetition.

Bottle... Post RBSG ’08 O-Town/Vero Beach Throwdown Chapter 8... This beer rocks! ... Pours black with a creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. Understated, earthy, acrid aroma offers up subtle notes of chocolate, tobacco, wood and smoke. Full-bodied and velvety with medium carbonation. Balanced nicely. Sweet chocolate; bitter, woodsy alcohol. Chocolaty finish. Thanks go out to growler for sharing this world class bottle of beer!

11.2oz bottle labeled Batch 003 BB 12/12/09, Poured dark brown with red edges and an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of smoke, some earthiness, chocolate, oak, vanilla, and light whiskey. Tastes of vanilla, light whiskey, wood, chocolate, liighter earthiness, and roast. Thinner but nice and smooth body. Alcohol content well hidden.

black with ruby highlights under a small creamy tan head. chocolate, coffee, and mild woody bourbon scotch notes. flavor has notes of vanilla, coconut, bourbon, wood, milk chocolate, even some chocolate covered pineapple. medium bodied. low carbonation with a silky texture. gets sweeter and more chocolaty as it warms. tough decision but i think i liked the macallan the best.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Borefts 10am day after hotel tasting.
Black with a tan head. Well, duh, it’s a Paradox. Erm... I’m running out of steam for Paradox rates in all honesty. This one is a little lighter on the whisky and a little more chocolate up front. Underneath, it’s Paradox. An excellent imperial stout plus all the loveliness that comes from those special Barrels that the BrewDog folks pay so much money for. Crap rate. Great beer. Again. Oh, and thanks to Craig for giving me the chance to try one of the ones that I never would have had the chance to as it all goes over the pond.

Bottle from Wine House - $12, eek. Nice scotchy flavors surrounded with the usual vanilla/wood/choco combo. Very nice, very tasty, could be a bit fuller...body comes off a bit thinner than I’d expect. Very nice but probably not worth the price tag.

12 oz bottle from Bev4less. Pours an opaque dark brown with a small cream head that soon fades to a fine film leaving some lacing. The aroma is musty with roasted grains, oak, coffee, something fruity, and a touch of whiskey. The taste is rich with coffee, roasted malts, oak, a touch of whiskey and biter walnuts. The mouthfeel is full smooth and creamy. The finish is medium in duration and dry. Overall: A very enjoyable impy stout, not much whiskey character, but then it is a beer.

Served at room temp per the label’s suggestion. An aggressive pour yields a pitch black body covered with only a slight dark tan head that recedes to a random pile of floating islands. Strong woody, peat scotch aromas with apparent roasted malts. Nice and smooth body is not overly heavy. The roasted body is powerful but overshadowed by the excellent scotch and hop finish that blends and leaves a lasting impression of a fine single malt scotch sitting on the tongue.
