In What Completes my Brewdog Set (so far) I have to say a big thanks to Crosling for this one ... Shared in the Aftermath of De Molen in our 30 Beer Breakfast bash ... This was one of the better paradoxes ... deep black ... soft roast malt nose ...rich chocolate fruityness ... deep roast ... little coffee..

Pours almost black with some brown hues. The beer was headless after a vigorous pour. Nice aromas of some sweet roasted malts and a pleasant touch of whiskey and oak. Soft flavors of roasted malt, sweeter dark malts, oak and scotch whiskey. Soft carbonation, lighter bodied than I expected, smooth drinking and not as hot as I would have though from 10%.

Bottle at Tampa tasting. Poured a dark amber with a creamy eggshell head. Good retention, nice lacing on the glass. Nose is full of caramel and chocolate with some Scotch notes and a peat smokiness. Somewhat full bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Nice balance of chocolate, oak wood, alcohol. Definitely has a whiskey character. Finish is dry and chocolatey. Very nice!

bottle thanks to bu11zeye. black pour with a tiny bit of froth up top. very sweet vanilla and oak scents. the oak is much more pronounced in this one compared to the 005. the roastiness of the stout comes through with a smokey finish.

Bottles courtesy of growler and darkguardian. Pours dark brown/black with minimal head. Aromas of burnt malt, smoke and scotch. Similar flavors with some vanilla, chocolate and peat. More mellow flavors than the Macallum. Full body with minimal carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel.

Poured black. Sweet caramel, some coffee, roasty malts, some tobacco and dark fruits. Flavor was much of the same with some whiskey and slight wood character. Nice sipper.

Bottles from myself and growler. Pours chocolate brown with a nose of mild peat and smoke with a bit of scotch caramel and raisin. Taste is coffee beans with bitter chocolate and only a dash of scotch in the finish and a lingering vanilla note. Not as scotch heavy as I was hoping but this is a old barrel (1970) so it should be pretty mellow.
