Low carbonation, silky smooth palate. Subtle well integrated chocolate, mellow whiskey and sour malt. A warming finish with some earthiness. Subtle and refined. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 21, 2008 this thing pours a pan-reduced blood color or black to the untrained eye. Very thin sheet of off-white suds atop. Nose is predominately roasty and earthy with notes of chocolate and cola, Custardy mouthfeel with vanilla induced flavors...chocolate mousse, with pretty chewy scotch characteristics. Carbonation is on the low side making the beer somewhat syrupy. Somewhat of a bitter finish. It’s not bad, its unique for the scotchy flavors, but it doesn’t wow me by any means.
