BrewDog Paradox Grain (Batch 007)

Bottled. Black with a medium, off-white head. Burnt and slightly metallic aroma with some macerel. Wood, oak, licorice, coffee and chocolate in the flavour.

Courtesy of Magic Dave. The aroma is foremost whisky accented, but chocolate, vanilla, toasted and roasted malt and a very mild smoky note are also present. The body is mostly black, but there are dark ruby highlights. There is little head to speak of. The flavor starts with the whisky then goes chocolate followed by vanilla, mild hints of oak, some almost brown ale nutty notes and even hints of caramel. Tastes pretty nice and I can see that is where the buzz comes from on Brewdog beers. However it seems a bit thin and under carbonated, at least for my personal tastes and that has an effect on my enjoyment of the beer.

Bottle. Almost black with a small light brown froth. Great complex aroma promising vanilla, roasted malt and chocolate. Vanilla flavours dominate, adding on chocolate, roast plays second fiddle. Do I taste a hint of orange as well? Smooth and full-bodied. Simply wonderful.

Bottled. Aroma has peat, chocolate, licorice, roast. Dark black coloured with a beige head. Taste is a bit sweet with bitterness. It has a whisky peated woody touch with chocolatebitterness, roast and some licorice. Good stuff.

Lot’s of nose here. Coffee, vanilla, oak, malt, honey and a touch of smoke. Appearence is stout-dark dominant, with a ring of whisky on the lip! The aging really did suck something out of the grain casks. Flavour misses the mark. I have tried pale beers that work much better with oak and whisky, but the force of a good stout is an overload. There is just too much going on here and all of it fails to work with each other. The stout comes on strong at first with deep chocolate riches, but then battles with a clash of grain mid-palate. Then the old oak tries to get in on the action but is pushed to the back. No teamwork here unfortunately, save for a pleasing whisky linger in the throat.

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Heavy malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Light sweet moderate bitter flavor. Creamy palate.

Bottled, bought in Vejle. Dark black color, short brown head. Aroma of dark chocolat, some licorice, hint of whisky and peat. Nice dark roasted taste, bitter chocolat. Nice stuff.

Bottle. Bllack colour with a small creamy head and some lacing. Rich aorm and taste of port, chocolate nad licorice. Very good beer.
