The aroma picked up moderately roasted dark chocolates with lesser coffee accented by vanilla and sweet whiskey.. sweet and sticky overall. The flavor was semi-sweet with a malty complexion of chocolate, coffee, and caramel notes paired fairly well with vanilla and whiskey on the edges.. spicy and warm without an overt alcohol presence.. the barrel increased with warmth. Medium-bodied and increasingly warm and bitter as it progressed.. low carbonation.. solidly done. yespr (12424), Copenhagen O, Denmark

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2009 Pours a pitch black with nearly no head - a thin outline of foam with the tiniest hint of lacing. Aroma is sweet, nice and peaty with obvious notes of scotch. Tastes not at all roasty, but much more of strong scotch ale flavour. Woodsy and peaty (day-old campfire) with enough generic background hops to keep things in check. Thin and undercarbonated with a coating and lasting mouthfeel. What a beautiful finish, again, not much in the way of an impy stout, but I’m really loving all the scotch flavours, and how well they work in beer form. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2009 Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Near black with a hint of red and a big tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, large amounts of vanilla and some toffee. Flavour began with some sweetness, a hint of peaty whisky, more vanilla and a warming alcohol finish. A different, Scottish take on an imperial stout, which proved enjoyable. DownsouthGav (601), Greater London, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 28, 2008 Bottle from Utobeer. Pours a pitch oil like black liquid. Hoppy nose with wine, alcohol, dried fruits and malt. Taste is incredibly vinous and much like a heavy port. Quite drinkable but definitely a sipper. petematte46 (227), Dallas, Texas, USA

Super dark mahogany tinged brown with a beige head that dissipated to nothing. Aroma was roasted malt, vanilla, wood and whiskey. Much of the same in the flavour which was sticky sweet and with pretty well masked alcohol. Dryish , woody finish. All in all a tasty drop.
