Commercial Description:
Bottled, Special;
Port Dundas 1966 We set about to unite two of Scotland proudest heritages and produce a product which combined all that was good about Scotland’s whisky producing history and our contemporary take on a traditional Scottish style of stout. The fact that we have developed this product in conjunction with Duncan Taylor Ltd of Huntly means we mature our beer in the casks that once housed some of the most prestigious whiskies available today. The distinct flavours of these whiskies is beautifully infused into the beer giving a unique and unrivalled experience for both beer and whisky lovers. Paradox is produced in very small batches and each batch is bottled in a unique numbered limited edition bottle.

Bottle. Pours black with a small, rocky, light brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt -cookie, molasses, toffee-, light hops -herbs-, heavy yeast -horse blanket, leather- with notes of heavy alcohol, prunes, wood, tar, and vanilla. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness and bitterness, light acidity.

Courtesy hopscotch. Thanks for sharing Eric. Pours pitch black, with a tiny little off white head. Smells of rich graham crackers, good amount of bourbon, wood, caramel malt, and roast. Really dug this nose big time. The flavor and mouthfeel were a little lighter than I was expecting but still quite tasty. The alcohol was more apparent in the flavor than in the nose. Rich roast, bourbon, chocolate, and toffee were all evident. Another interesting and tasy gem from these guys.

0.33 l bottle. Reddish black color with small head. Sweet, leathery, heathery, oaky and whiskeyish aroma with vanilla and salty licorice. Soft roasty flavor with chocolate, oak, vanilla, whisky and salty licorice. Soft palate. Quite oaky and vinous, not too whiskeyish, no smoke or peat character. Pleasant and balanced.

(Bottled) Almost black with a small, tanned head. Mild aroma with vanilla and some malt. Strongly malty flavor with mild whiskeyness, but no smoke or peat to speak of. Hides the alcohol quite well. Medium-bodied, quite low-carbonated. A very well-made Impy - maybe the least interresting in this series so far, and slightly thin - but not bad at all.

Bottle. Soft foamy light beige head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Dark mahogany color. Aroma was quite heavy with notes of vanilla, oak, roasted malt, mild coffee, Bourbon, berries. Over the palate came roasted malt, vanilla, liquorish, oak and again heavy Bourbon. Quite lovely and smooth if you are into Bourbon. Quite full bodied with a soft carbonation and thick light alcoholic texture. Moderated to heavy sweet flavor with good counter bitterness. Lingering roasted malty and vanilla/Bourbon finish. More of that please.

Bottle thanks to Bu11zeye. Pours black with tan head. Aroma of dark roast. Semi sweet with dark roast, some chocolate, and possible smoked wood?. Medium to heavy body, medium carbonation. Pretty good.
