Commercial Description:
Bottled, Special;
Port Dundas 1966 We set about to unite two of Scotland proudest heritages and produce a product which combined all that was good about Scotland’s whisky producing history and our contemporary take on a traditional Scottish style of stout. The fact that we have developed this product in conjunction with Duncan Taylor Ltd of Huntly means we mature our beer in the casks that once housed some of the most prestigious whiskies available today. The distinct flavours of these whiskies is beautifully infused into the beer giving a unique and unrivalled experience for both beer and whisky lovers. Paradox is produced in very small batches and each batch is bottled in a unique numbered limited edition bottle.

Bottle shared by GodOfThunder. Labeled Port Dundas. Pours dark brown with almost no head. Aromas of whisky, oak and vanilla. Flavors of dark fruits, chocolate, oak, vanilla and whisky. Full body with almost no carbonation. Not as hot as some of the other Brewdog beers I have tried. A nice one.

Bottle with Port Dundas label. Pours a dark reddish brown with zero head. The nose is burnt molasses, prunes and booze. The taste is chocolate, ash, burnt malt and vanilla with a whisky spiked coffee finish. Medium, flat body. OK taste, but not worth the price. Would be better with more body.

Pours dark briown, with a minimal brown head. Aroma is whiskey, vanilla, malt, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor is whiskey, smoke, chocolate, and vanilla. Body is thin to medium. Gets better as it warms.

Courtesy GodofThunder. Labeled as Port Dundas Batch 013. Pours a dark chocolate brown color with some mahogany at the edges. Virtually no head or lacing at all. The aroma shows notes of chocolate covered cherries, other dark fruits, and a sweet caramel malt base. The flavor shows more of the chocolate and caramel up front along with cherries and figs, and a good dose of vanilla for balance. A lingering hop bitterness is detected on the backend. Medium bodied and silky smooth with subtle carbonation. More fruity and not as hot as some of others. This one was tasty and a nice treat. Good stuff.

Soft wood character over the chocolate roasted grain. Thinner bodied, dark brown, minimal head. Sweet roasted grain up front, smoky midpalate, increasing with intensity into a coffee finish.

THOUGHTS: Smelled lovely, but there was a little too much whisky in the flavor that hid the beer. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was a nearly opaque black in the glass with reddish orange highlights and a small, tan head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was mostly whisky, along with light caramel and chocolate malts, smoke, soy sauce and vanilla. The aroma was nice, but all whisky. It started sweet and slightly salty, and finished like whisky. There was chocolate, whisky, wood and smoke. The medium to full body was sort of creamy with very soft carbonation and a light alcoholic finish.

Botttle from bhensonb. This dark brown ale poured with no head and a strong dark malt aroma. The flavor is plum and smoked malt with a vanilla trail.
