Commercial Description:
Bottled, Special;
Port Dundas 1966 We set about to unite two of Scotland proudest heritages and produce a product which combined all that was good about Scotland’s whisky producing history and our contemporary take on a traditional Scottish style of stout. The fact that we have developed this product in conjunction with Duncan Taylor Ltd of Huntly means we mature our beer in the casks that once housed some of the most prestigious whiskies available today. The distinct flavours of these whiskies is beautifully infused into the beer giving a unique and unrivalled experience for both beer and whisky lovers. Paradox is produced in very small batches and each batch is bottled in a unique numbered limited edition bottle.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions as Port Dundas. Color is brown/black. There is no head. Aroma is dishwater, bacon, dark burnt malt. Aroma is also vanilla and oak. Full body with very mild carbonation. Flavor is quite woody, and has lots of oaky vanilly flavor. Really mouthsmacking.

Bottles, labeled as Port Dundas Batch 013. Courtesy GodOfThunder. Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a translucent chestnut colored edge. Like the others in this series, this one sports little no no head or lace, just a few bubbles at the edge. The fruitiest of the series, this one smells of a rich malt base of caramel and nougat, with notes of dark chocolate covered cherries and figs. Flavors show more choco-caramel sweetness, with heaps of nougat and some vanilla, as well as a substantial, earthy hop bitterness. Medium bodied and silky, with very little carbonation. Less boozy are substantially fruity, this one is quite unique and tasty. Very nice.

Bottle (B013). Pours black with a brown head that slightly diminished. Aroma of chocolate, whiskey, vanilla oak and dark fruit. Smooth flavour of chocolate, caramel, vanilla and dark fruit. Smooth, warm and light bitterness in the finish.

Deep brown, still. Rich whisky and chocolate cake pecan pie nose. Smooth. Warming whisky. Roasty but restrained. Moderately sweet.

Dark brown color; just a few bubbles on the surface. The aroma is intensely vanilla. It has a good and sweet caramel flavor, complemented by chocolate and the oak vanilla. More chocolate in the end. Unfortunately in the late palate there is a strange, dry, metallic touch. Pleasant but not exciting.

Bottled@Beer Hunters, Pori. Very dark brown colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is peat, slight toffee and quite much earthyness. Flavour is toffee, caramel, plums, dark dry fruits, raisins and some mild ashyness. Mild vanillaish notes as it warms up a bit.

Deep brown body with reddish highlights, thin, tan head. Strong port nose with oily chocolate, molasses, and coffee. Vinous port characteristics paired with bitter, acrid coffee and molasses in the body. Thin and watery for an imperial stout. I’ll pass on any more $15 bottles of this mediocre beer.

Dark brown, near black with almost no head. Sweet oaky nose, molasses, little coffee beans, grain and vanilla. Strongly oaky, liquorice flavor with menthol, whisky, molasses, raisins and ash. Dry coffee bitterness in the finish. Sweet, unbalanced and light palate. These batches sure differ.
