Commercial Description:
Bottled; Special. Also cask.
This limited edition (001) sees a 8% Imperial Stout matured in a specially selected ex Duncan Taylor & Co Caol Ila 1996 single malt whisky cask.
NOTE: Some bottles of Speyside Batch 010 have been mis-labelled as Batch 001. However, those bottles clearly state Speyside on the bottle and should not be confused with the Islay Batch 001.

33 cl bottle. Batch 006: Pours pitch black with a off white bubbly head. Aroma and taste is of roasted malts - smoke, chocolate, coffee, wood, oak & ashtray. Medium bodied. Oily & creamy. Close to flat carbonation. Heavy whisky smokey notes. I PREFER AN IMPERIAL STOUT WITH LESS SMOKE & MORE HOPS .

(Bottled) Very dark brown with a small head and some lace. Very malty, ashy and smoothly oaky, whiskey-like aroma with chlorine hints and some alcohol. Very tarry, roasty and ashy flavor with a long, dry-ashy-smoky finish. Quite full-bodied, dry-ashy palate with low carbonation. Interesting and intese, but not the most balanced.

Scotland Rating #50. Don’t usually celebrate a ’50’ marker, but I don’t think I’ll ever get to 100 for Scotland. Courtesy of BDR. Near black color with no head. Moderately peaty aroma. Definitely there, but not screaming like a Lagavulin. A little roasted malt. Peat smacks you up front, but again, not as harsh as the Islay south shore distilleries. Slightly salty. Chocolate and caramel malts. Sweet and slick. Yum!

(RBESG 2007, Bottle at Blackfriars, Glasgow) Black, dark head. Whisky aroma, tar, oak and with smoked notes. Smoked whisky flavor, great palate and with a smotth, nice finish.

Bottle (330ml) shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev & GregClow -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a spare diminishing off-white head. Very nice aroma, lots of smoke but also sweet along with chocolate, roasted caramel malt and dark fruit. Flavour: Now that’s different! Nice to have a barrel-aged beer that’s not all vanilla or bourbon. Lots and lots of smoke along with peat, roasted malt and alcohol. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied. Interesting and different -- I wouldn’t drink this regularly but I quite like it.
