Commercial Description:
Bottled; Special. Also cask.
This limited edition (001) sees a 8% Imperial Stout matured in a specially selected ex Duncan Taylor & Co Caol Ila 1996 single malt whisky cask.
NOTE: Some bottles of Speyside Batch 010 have been mis-labelled as Batch 001. However, those bottles clearly state Speyside on the bottle and should not be confused with the Islay Batch 001.

Bottle, courtesy of the brewery, thanks a lot! Dark with a red tone, little carbonation. Tar, sea, whisky. Smooth and velvety stout with the whisky bringing in paeat, salt and a warming edge. Each sip brings more. Soot, coffee, anise. This si not smotth and harmonoius - it has an edge. And that is what makes this beer stand out.

Bottle. Black beer with a deep roasted and liquorice aroma. The flavour is deep, treacle and malty dry. Overall a reasonable strong beer.

Near black colored, medium sized beige head. Strongly whisky aroma with smoke, licorice, vanilla and oak. Medium to full bodied. Flavor has also this strong whiskey-smoke tone, dries strongly with also this oaky-vanilla. Hops in aftertaste with lasting smoke. Maybe still too one-dimensional flavor.

RB says 006 is the same as 001. BB4 Dec 31, 2008. Black liquid. Flat. No head. Smokey with light whisky character. A little darker with each sip. Still seems kind of simple.

Bottle from lithy, thanks bro! I ended up with an extra bottle thanks to an erroneous shipment from liquidsolutions. So I decided to give it a try. Wow, what a cool beer. Black pour with a small head that barely lasts 20 seconds. Aroma is pure peaty malt. Some might think it smelled of sausage, but to the scotch drinker this is all scotch. Flavor is more scotch than beer, but the beer certainly there. The two are harmoniously blended in this beer. Bravo!!

Pours a pitch black color with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavor of peat, iodine and roasted malt. The body is light with a liquorous texture and soft carbonation. I definitely prefer the liquid that was previously in the cask!

3rd LCRBM. Oh yeah. This stuff rules. Aroma has peated whisky malts. Black coloured with a thin off-white head. Taste is sweet, peaty, smoked with whisky malts. Medicinal. Bit dry. Superb beer.

bottle from plan-b. bbf 30-12-2008. as Batch 006. sampled 05-03-2009 dark brown almost black, small thick light brown head. peaty , hoppy, smoky aroma. not as extreme as i had expected. a little vanilla perhaps?. well rounded. flavor has distinct islay characters, smoked peat, sweetness, vanilla, toward the end it gets more bitter and charchoal and smokey. ends very smokey and roasted. 10% alc. totally hidden. If you like stuff like laphoriagh you’ll love this flavor.
