Pours red-black with a small off-white head that settles to a ring. Aroma of smoke and earth. The flavor has lots of scotch, some wood. Medium body, tasty. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 29, 2007 Thanks Tom for opening this rather challeging and interesting beer at the Weekend of Spont. Ferment. Pours dark brown colored with a fizzy head. Aroma is dominated by whiskey with some roastiness and coffee in there as well and oak of course. Flavor is whiskey and more whiskey and I can’t really find much else. Oak, tar, chocolate is noticeable. As said, interesting, but way too much whiskey for my taste. Makes this otherwise well brewed beer rather unbalanced and not as complex as I had hoped for. Still a fun experience. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Pours dark brown, with not much head, ust a few bubbles hugging the edge of th glass. Big whskey notes just come pouring out, along with some roast, sweet molasses, and toffee. Not as full bodied as i would have hoped for, medium at best. This one was a little unbalanced for my taste. Just heavy pounding of scotch, but not enough body to really balance it out and give you other flavors. very sweet and sticky on the palate, not my favorite of their wiskey barrel aged brews. tronraner (1933), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 16, 2008 Bottle, brought to the 2008 pre-Brewers’ Jam warmup. Pours mahogany with very small beige head. The aroma is Scotch, smoke, peat, and not a whole lot else. Flavor is dry, woody, and smoky peat. I gotta say I’m a little disappointed in this one. The Scotch-aging comes through very well, but it seems that the base beer is lackluster and unable to support such strong flavors. faroeviking (6100), BjórtjóðveldiðBjórheimBjórsins, Faroe Islands
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 26, 2007 Bottle @ thewolf tasting. Pours pitch black with a creamy beige head. Aroma of smoke, wood, medicine and whisky. Bit flat stickish mouthfeel. Flavour of roasted malt, smoke, whisky and some vanilla. Needs more body. Plimmer (251), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 23, 2008 Bottle 33cl (batch 006). Pitch black body with a small dense brown head. Smoke, smoke and smoke in the nose. Rather light body (lighter than expected) with lots of whiskey like notes and lots of smoke. Smoke and tar notes in the finish. Strange and very untraditional beer. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Pours a pitch black color with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavor of peat, iodine and roasted malt. The body is light with a liquorous texture and soft carbonation. I definitely prefer the liquid that was previously in the cask!
