Typical pitch black/dark brown color with small brown head with some lacing. Aroma is not so strong as in many Paradoxes: milk chocolate, vanilla, some oak, not much of peat found - overall quite sweet nose. Full-bodied. Lots of toasted malts, burned notes, licorice. Some milky sweetness, vanilla and wood. Flavors are a bit unbalanced. Probably quite similar than Arran whiskies. Sweet and a bit tarry but not smokey.

Dec 27, 2009 Dark brown pour with no head. Aroma-strong malts, soy sauce,cola. Taste-coffee grounds, whisky, roast malts, salt, not sweet. No hops, dry malt finishes nicely.

Dec 27, 2009 had on cask at Churchkey in NW Washington DC. VERY dark pour, served 54 degrees, almost no head or lacing. Very strong flavor with hints of scotch including chocolate, malt, and a lot of oak. Finish is bitter ,but not in a bad way....

Dec 26, 2009 What an amazing disapointment. Nice nose and beautiful to look at, but no body and nearly no whisky to be detected. $12+ and the 10% didn’t even seem there.
A real bummer.

Dec 26, 2009 Bottle from Systembolaget. Very dark brown colour and brownish head. Whisky, alchohol, dark roasty maltiyness in the aroma and taste. Full bodied. Very enjoyable although I like beer as beer and whisky as whisky.

pours brown, thin off-white head.
aroma and flavor, barrel is mild, hints of ashy wood, vanilla and whiskey. Roasted malts, with some chocolate, caramel, finish keeps a nice warming whiskey mouthfeel coupled with a finish that keeps what makes many of these Paradox serie a hit or miss; the char/ash like aspect. In this case, it was moderate and blended quite well with the barrel. Mouthfeel was a little thin.

Dec 25, 2009 A: Nice flat black hue. Small foamy head with okay retention. No lace.
S: Malt, light whiskey, oak, earth.
T: Oaky with nice whiskey notes. Chocolate malt, light smoke, and a hint of char.
M: Medium in body, average carbonation.
D: Pretty good.

Dec 23, 2009 A deep dark stout with almost no head, again, on the lifeless, undercarbonated side. A pleasant classy bitter chocolate aroma with notes of tobacco leaves, coal, peated scotch notes, quite nice and subdued. In mouth, a good smooth IS with bitter chocolate, peated malts, very smooth. Sustained burned grains. Howverm everything is very smooth and pleasant with this beer. Bieropholie import, BB 08-08-10.

Dec 23, 2009 Bottle: Pours a dark black color with no head. The nose is bright with chocolate and ripe grapes, lots of smoke and more chocolate and coffee. The whiskey notes are subtle but smooth, not too sharp. Rich meaty flavor. Nice finish. Yum.
