| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2009 Bottle and served in Bells snifter: Near black with mahogany highlights supported by a small thin beige frothy head and minimal lace. The nose is a wonderful mix of Dunhill Night Cap pipe tobacco, peat bog, olden oak barrels, smoky scotch, some chocolate and coffee, fig and prune, and a kiss of heather. The taste follows suit with heavy tobacco and leathery overtones supported by dark fruits, chocolate, vanilla, charred oak barrels and a touch of star anise. Wonderfully balanced where the barrel does not dominate the stout nor visa-verse. The mouth feel is a tad thin but that does make it a bit dangerous to drink as well. It reminds me a bit of the Shoreline BA Lost Sailor but with more peaty and smoky notes. Like someone mixed the BA Lost Sailor with a Paradox Islay 008. YUMMY!!!!

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Came in a big box BrewDog sent to me for buying 20 of their beers from Sainsburys.
Black, almost opaque with medium off white caramelly head. Smell rich chocolate, some vanilla and a little coffee, rich yet delicate. Taste rich, filling, sweet chocolate, with some very bitter coffee coming in for a dry finish. Strong alcohol and Whisky notes burn, giving a tasty, rounded flavour. Some sweet cinnamon. Medium carbonation. Excellent and warming. Perfect for Winter. hirigalzkar (570), Stockholm, Sweden
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Bottle. This beer has got some qualities... the smokeiness, the sweetness etc. but there is just something wrong with the balance. Who can a 10% imperial stout be this thin? nate2g (1079), Brisbane, Australia
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a lasting white head. Aroma and flavour dominant of vanilla, almond and spice. Very sweet malt backbone - almost sugary/candyish - reminds me of pasteurised chocolate milk in the carton. Low bitterness and carbonation. I’m not detecting any peat/smoke character whatsoever. Finishes sweet malty. Strangely I’m picking up on artificial flavours throughout this beer. Perhaps not one of their finest moments. jzzbassman (845), New Albany, Mississippi, USA

Flavor is slightly bitter and salty, with a big iodine/ whisky bite. Finishes short and somewhat dry. sm89walt (450), Canterbury, Kent, England
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Cask - Dartford WMC. A medium, frothy tan head is supported by a thick dark brown body of beer. Sweet vanilla and milk chocolate notes with roasted malts, a hint of coffee and touch of woodiness on the nose. Loads of roasty malts, smokey, ashy flavours, a bit of liquorice with a dry bitter chocolate and woody end. Medium mouthfeel, coats the palate with a lingering dryness and low to medium carbonation. nick76 (2657), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 25, 2009 The aroma is very nice with toasted malt, chocolate, coffee, raisins, alcohol, and wood. The appearance is dark brown with almost no head. The flavor is like the aroma but also tastes burnt. The palate is thin. Overall a nice smelling beer but the palate is way to thin and the beer is almost flat. Palidor19 (1772), Brandon, Florida, USA
