Nose has chocolate, dark bitter roast & peat with the slightest hint of smoke & honey. Palate translates well with low carbonation. Seems a touch thin though. Finish is long wit dark roast lingering. Overall another good spin on an IS from these guys but to be honest probably one of the weaker ones in the series, just seems too thin compared to the power of the malt & whisky notes if anything. Don’t get me wrong, its still a really good beer.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2009 Not much of an aroma, maybe my nose is off? Medium body. Not as assertive as I would have guessed for such a "big beer". I probably have to try this one again for a better analysis.
Notes: On Cask, got the last bit of it, don’t know if that effected it. DruncanVeasey (2744), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 8, 2009 Bottle from Duncan Murray Wines. Pitch without edges, tan collar subsiding to a rim. Lush 80% cocoa, burnt fruitcake, peat and charcoal aroma with vanilla and oak becoming more assertive as the head dissipates. Mellow and bittersweet with decadent high cocoa notes and a clinging cigar smokiness; raisins, Xmas pudding, even some hints of citrus hop once its been standing for a while. Something like liquified high quality dark chocolate with cranberry and orange. Just a teaspoon of wee dram, beautifully integrated...vanilla and peat mingling seamlessly with the resonating smoke and cocoa of the malts. Outstanding balance. Satisfying stout perfect for the fireside, drenched in smoke, but far from overdone..gentle cigar linger, faint glow of booze. Full and silky. One of the best BrewDogs I’ve had, and running the Old Chimneys King Henries very close as my favourite big UK stout. Delicious. swoopjones (1915), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Pours dark but not quite opaque. Almost no head. The nose has a lot of peat up front with some earthiness, barley wine like dark malts, hint of whiskey but not particularly strong. The flavor is really smooth. Some high octane booze notes though the whiskey itself remains pretty subtle. Hints of caramel and dark chocolate. Very smooth. A little thin but a overall a good strong beer. redlight (1475), Winter Park, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Rich chocolate malts with creamy vanilla and coffee notes. Pours a very dark amber brown, red in the center when held to the light. Very smooth bready malts, nutty with chocolate, vanilla and dark fruits. Extremely drinkable! omhper (12229), Stockholm, Sweden
