yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA May 6, 2009 Wow is this stuff expensive. Thanks Jimmack for sharing. Very rich and boozy with soem wood and molasses. Sweet and syrupy, definitely a sipper. bierkoning (5987), La Tropica, Netherlands May 5, 2009 Bottle bought @ De Molen. Deep dark brown color. Almost opague. Salt, dark chocolate and notes of whisky in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with dark chocolate, raisin, oak, whisky and dried fruit. Well balanced, the whisky lingers on in the background in a most pleasant way. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Apr 30, 2009 Sampled at Beerhawk’s Beer Gods in the Boro, aka 1000 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, By God Beer God Gathering, BG1K Tasting. Dark brown pour with small tan head. Chocolate, coffee, nice and roasty. But hella expensive. glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Apr 23, 2009 Updated: Apr 26, 2009Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of dark bread, toasted and cereal, light hops and yeast notes of perfume and herb, and leather, with background notes of boozy type alcohol, butterscotch, brown sugar and vanilla. Head is thin, wispy, off-white, with fair lacing and good legs, and is fully diminishing. Color is deep dark brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and slightly bittersweet. Palate is medium to full, syrupy, with a soft carbonation and finishes sticky and lightly alcoholic. The huge malt domination separates his beer from other quality Imperial Stout. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Apr 14, 2009 Bottle shared by lithy. Poured black with a tan head that left light lacing. Nice roasted malt aroma. The flavor found coffee, chocolate, roast, and a decent sherry backing. Medium to full body, sweet, roast aftertaste. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Mar 20, 2009 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Very dark brown pour, sparse soapy off-white head. Slight caramel, alcohol, spice, toffee, light whiskey notes. Heavy roast initially but yields to a mild whiskey taste. One of the milder Brewdogs. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Feb 22, 2009 Batch 011, bb 12/12/09, Dark black with red hints at the edges and a thin quick light tan head. Some sherry and roast in the aroma but is thin. Taste is roasty base with some wood and sherry over top. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 7, 2009 I think Hophead75 shared this at his tasting last year? Pours a deep dark brown almost straight black with a thinning shiny head some lace as well. Aroma is dark chocolate, nutty, scotch whiskey comes through- a bit harsh, oaky, astringent, hints of cola and sherry oxidation. Flavor is sweet but cut by the woody and whickey astringency and the oxidation sherry, saltiness backs that up to cut through all the malt- some slight sweetness, roast and chocolate malt with some slight fruitiness. Oaky and dry finish.
