Dec 1, 2008 Pours a slight watery black with a thin white head. Big roasted grain, chocolate malt, coffee, vanilla aroma. Taste is very complex, lots of coffee roasted grain and chocolate malt. Also has great barrel and vanilla notes nicely blended in to give a great smoothness. Great smooth mouthfeel with hints of scotch. Very subtle and tasty.

Oct 30, 2008 Pour is black with a thin vanilla head. Aroma is remenicent of a scotch style ale. Some highly accented nutiness, and milk chocolate in the flavor. Much tamer and more subtle on the scotch flavor versus the Islay. Good, yet the Islay was more interesting. And for the money that these are going for, it needs to be either mindblowing or at least interesting. This one was neither.
Fast forward...as I sip this and the temperature warms up, the complexity rises exponentially and the scotch flavors present themselves. Now that’s the interesting I expect.

Oct 27, 2008 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a small, off-white heead and a black body. Aroma is some smooth wood, chocolate, scotch, and some nuts. Taste is scotch, lightly woody, some chocolate and almonds. Creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation.

Oct 26, 2008 bottle from bu11zeye. black pour with some froth up top. great notes of vanilla, chocolate and scotch. awesome on the palate with the roasted malts coming through quite well with overtones of wood. awesome finish and a great woody aftertaste.

Oct 9, 2008 12oz. Bottle: Sweet vinous aroma with notes of soy sauce, roasted malts, smokem peat, and sherry. Poured medium-dark brown in color with a small, off-white head. Clear. Sparkling. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter flavor. Tastes of vanilla, oak, peat, smoke, roasted malts, chocolate, and oak. Medium body. Slick, chalky texture. Soft carbonation. Malty, peat, chocolate, and vinous finish is dry.
