This beer is now called "Paradox Speyside". Opaque black color, small tan head. Aroma of licorice, roasted malts, vanilla and whisky. Medium-bodied, almost a bit thin for being 10%. Clear, very dark ale with a small, off-white head. Very restrained nose offers subtle notes of chocolate, Scotch and brandy with even lesser wafts of tobacco, leather and wood. Full-bodied and velvety with limp carbonation. Chocolaty and boozy. Nice bitterness. Finishes hot and deeply roasted. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and chocolate with nice peaty smoke and roasted malty character. Body starts with good fullness and sweet dark caramel and sherry notes along with a complex balance of smoky peat and roasted malt. Finishes smooth and semi-sweet. Well aged and enjoyable.
