| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2008 Tasting - Perfect Pour. Dark brownish black, creamy tan head. Sweet vanilla cocoa and coffee aromas warm to light notes of wood. Intense coffee vanilla flavors balance on swirls of cherry and oak. Sneaks of scotch play out at room temp. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, sweet finish. Nice, but a touch too sweet for me... tronraner (1916), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 8, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours quite black with hints of amber only at the farthest extremities, and a thin khaki head. The aroma is oaky with a light, shall we say playful, fruitiness and a robust toffee and coffee conglomeration. The flavor is very straightforward oak with vanilla and cherry nuances. Under that is a pretty satisfying stout, with strong coffee and some bitter chocolate and caramel. The finish is a little bit hoppy, too, with a planty, herbal bitterness that picks up as the tannic bitterness of the oak fades. The aftertaste is an odd mixture of coffee and sherry. I gotta say, I enjoy this one. sebletitje (1914), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 7, 2009 Pours dark brown, thin mahoganny head.
Aroma is malty, grainy with hints of fresh sherry, vanilla, chocolate.
Flavor, wood/cask, whiskey, light roasted malts, some tobacco / char flavor, reminiscent of other Paradox beers.
Light sherry palate with hints of raisin/wine, wood/cask add .
Vanilla followed by a nice alcohol warming mouthfeel. The sherry is not over pronounced but gets easily picked up after the second sip.
Finish has some thin sherry notes mixed with possible chocolate bitterness. Tasty. travita (1910), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 10, 2008 Courtesy growler. Pours dark brown/black with really not much of a head as usual. Smells of some hot whiskey, spice, graham crackers, dark malty roast, and a little bitter chocolate. The flavor was pretty huge on the bitterness, very peaty, while the whiskey was huge and burning on the palate. Not as flavorful as I was hoping for, but not bad. Nice experience, but not my favorite from them. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 4, 2008 Dark brown color. Aroma has a lot of depth combining the peaty whiskey character and the sherry character of the barrel with a touch of the base beer. Flavor is nicely balanced and integrated. Silky mouth feel with palate caressing flavors. Not overly smoky, just a touch. The added sherry notes are a welcome addition. Other notes of vanilla, caramel, with a pleasant sweetness and a pretty nice finish. This is my favorite Paradox so far. mar (1842), Dallas, Texas, USA
