Bottle (330ml). Courtesy of MES of MES_AND_SIM - thank you so much, P!. Clear, but so deep it’s nearly opaque dark ruby pour, smallish frothy tan head. Not too much whiskey character in the aroma, more like a very deep roast brown ale, with a bit more herbal bitterness than normal. But the taste, ah ... there’s the Speyside - initially only light iodine, oak and whiskey sweetness, but the roast caramel is soon rather dominated by subtle resiny Islay complexity - lovely, just gets better as it warms. Slick mouthfeel, decent carbonation, long herbal/oaky bitter finish - terrific brew - again, thanks, Mes!

Bottle. Pours a mostly black body with a thin lacing. Molasses, caramel and chocolate malt. Woody whiskey notes and a light roast y malt body. Sweet with a slick warming and some light smoke notes. A bit cloying but that’s fine amidst the warming. Nice.

Black color with a thin head. Light oak and sherry aroma. Taste is a weak grain, some roasted malt and a bit of astringency. Only a very little bit of oak and really no whisky notes at all. I would never guess this to be a barrel aged beer in a blind taste test, let alone a Scotch barrel aged beer.

Grand Tasting, RBESG08. Dark brown colour. Dark malty, plummy, bit salty aroma. Fiery in mouth with good tarry whiskey blend and salty. Rounded mouthfeel with medium bitterness.

Bottle from a London Oddbin. Tar-like darkenss, thin film of a head. Whisky, tar and molasses in the aroma. Some beers could be rated just by looking and sniffing. Strong whisky charater cutting through, playing with the velvety stout, ending up in a warming finish. Some oak and vanilla lingering. Close to perfect.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, and some spicy scotch. Flavor is sweet, caramel, chocolate, booze, charred wood. The more I taste of these the more I really appreciate them.
