Black to dark brown with just about no head. Light smoke smell also with wood, alcohol, and some sweetness. Taste is alcohol, yeasty, wood, vanilla, and wiskey.

Bottle, thanks to Magic_Dave. Thanks! Pours a deep, dark red with a thin head. Aroma of dark fruits, whisky, tannic sourness. Taste is dryer than expected... whisky, dark fruits, pepper. Medium bodied... quite nice.

Bottle. Very still cola body. Nose-cigarette smoke, cola nut, light cherry. Taste-light smoke, slightly on the thin side, nasty aftertaste, perfumey, light smoke, alcohol on the back end. Nicely done.

Bottle (RBESG 08): Almost black with a small foamy beige layer; leather and liquorice in the nose, mixed with aromas of vanilla and wood; full bitter-sweet flavour; some smoke and vanilla, again, in the warming finish. O.K. .....

A Mes rate: Bottle that my lovely Mrs picked up from OddBins.
Pitch black and opaque with a thin tan head. Roasted malt aroma with chocolate and blackcurrant. Slight whisky but not over powering. Once in my mouth the whisky and the Riptide just never quite gel. The base is clearly the same, lovely imperial stout but the whisky just feels a little unrefined and, dare I say it, cheap. Certainly not as good as some of the other Paradoxes. Still a decent beer though. Lovely soft palate and typically brilliant alcohol hidage until you get an obvious belly glow. Good but not a show stopper.

RBESG2008: From 33 cL bottle, thanks to Magic_dave6. Pours hazy dark brown with a fully diminished tan head. Solid vanilla and roasted malt aroma. Dry and alcohol dense roasted malt flavour with a solid vanilla flavour. Goes into a finish with a warming alcohol burn.

Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil: Pours deep brown with a wispy bubbly tan head. The aroma is earthy, raisiny, some cocoa, and light oak is there. Slick and light on the palate. Dry-ish flavor. Light raisin sweetness underneath a smoky/peat note and oak. Pretty good, just lacking some nuances that other Speyside batches have had.
