| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2009 This beer pours a dark black with a very thin tan head that dissipates very quickly. Upon reading the bottle it says you should drink this beer at room temperature. Seems kinda odd to me, but then again we are talking the scots and don’t they typically drink their beverages warm? Well, I am drinking it cold. The aromas on this beer are whisky, oak and coffee. The flavors are vanilla, smoked coffee, chocolate, and light whisky. This was a decent impy stout, but I really thought it would be much better. harrisoni (6832), Ashford, Kent, England

Ok, I’ve made no secret from the fact that I’d rather drink Rip Tide than a Paradox. Rip Tide is such a drinkable impy stout and you can see the base beer trying to get out. This though is surprisingly good. It enhances the base beer rather than completely taking it over. Good dark choc. Good vanilla and ice cream, like vanilla ice cream with a choc ripple. A little grainy/powdery somewhere. Good subtle whisky flavour there. Really drinkable. Makes you want to drink it again. blutt59 (2169), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Bottle: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a thin ring of beige head. Aroma of salty smoky peat and lightly sweet toasted caramel malt. Starts with decent fullness and an earthy peaty smoke flavor with some dry oak and grassy bittering hops before a much drier, slightly roasted finish. Could use more sweetness and a touch more body, but still an enjoyable scotch barrel aged stout. wetherel (1641), Encinitas, California, USA

I could have got it in Tokyo. Whereever. Pours black-brown, with no head. Carbonation is very light. A bit of roast. The flavor is low. I suspect oxidation has dulled the flavors, but not really added any off flavors. A bit of booze. A bit hard to drink. Interesting, fun peaty aroma. I think it just needs some sweetness and carbonation. back (15), Holstebro, Denmark
