yngwie (3529), Kristiansand, Norway May 15, 2008 Updated: Jul 1, 2008 Bottle. A clear, yellowish golden pour leaves a white head. Citrus and pine dominates the aroma. There’s maltyness and a flowery and fruity note too. The flavor is much the same as the aroma, and finishes with lasting flavors of pine and resin. Medium body, and an almost stinging mouthfeel from the bitterness. One-dimentional but nice. Judging from my two different samples, it almost looks as I had two different beers, but I’m sure I haven’t. Rating: 7-3-7-3-14-3.4. (080509)
Bottle, thx to Ole_R for sharing. It pours a clear, pale golden body with a medium-sized white head. Heavy roasted malty nose, slightly coffee-ish, with some pine and peach and a heavy hoppyness. Hoppy flavor with pine and resin, as well as some coffee and a balancing maltyness. Full-bodied and with a long hoppy finish. Very malty for an IPA, more like a hopped-up scotch ale, but I like it. jsquire (1880), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Sep 6, 2008 Yellow beer with a big, fluffy white head. Light, fruity aroma of tangerine and berry. ( I don’t know what lychee and passionfruit smell like, but it could be this.) This strikes me a really light, with ton of lemon, lime, sweet grapefruit and some berry flavors. There is a hop burn, and a grassy finish, but there doesn’t seem to be any real body to this. Odd IPA. peter48er (65), Liverpool, Merseyside, England Sep 5, 2008 Bottle. Poured a deep yellow with only a small head. Little obvious nose.
Hops come roaring out in the mouth, with a numb shattering bitterness that was still in my mouth hours later. A challenge for non hop lovers but worth experiencing and working with. For me an excellent beer bordering on outstanding. Very much in the style of some of the more outlandish USA craft IPS’s like DogFish Head 90mins but without the cloying sweetness. Thomas_E (5030), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 4, 2008 Clear golden colour with a thin white head. Light malty sweet aroma with hoppy fruity and grassy notes. Light sweet flavor with hoppy, piney bitter notes. Svesse (1703), Hässelby, Sweden Aug 30, 2008 (Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 9 Aug 2008) Amber colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, mainly grapefruit. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of grapefruit and resin. Long, bitter finish with pine needles, resin and grapefruit. Slightly brutal hop character makes it quite one dimensional, but for a hop head, this is a lovely dimension. Some sweetness follows through all the way. Above medium body. Lovely beer! Thaichile (597), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a yellow color with an average head. Nose is lightly hopped but very simple. Flavor is mildly bitter but boring to be honest. Thin mouthfeel and just not formidable enough to be a recognizable IPA. It wasn’t light enough either just to be a refreshing session IPA the likes of Harpoon, which is crisp and light but sort of in the same catagory. Thank to thiesti for this one.
