Commercial Description:
A beer of inherent contradiction. This heavy weight of the beer world is strikingly delicate with a white gold appearance. The light fruity aroma dominates the initial confrontation; lychee, kiwi and passionfruit all prevail with subtle nuances of cherry and strawberry. Don’t be fooled however by this smooth medium bodied ale. As it trickles down your throat as this wolf in sheep’s clothing begins to grow teeth. The bite comes as the bitterness builds and endures no matter how hard the malty sweetness of the alcohol tries to tame this ferocious beast.

Pours a billowy white head that lasts throughout. Color is slightly hazy gold, would have liked it to be clearer. Nose is very forward spicy hops, a little earthiness, and some floral bouquet on the finish. Mouthfeel is less than expected on the front, burst of bitter hops carries the mid-palate -- some spice notes on the finish are nice. Not a lot of balance with this beer.

330 mL bottle. (bb 11/10/10). Nice label. Pale gold with a small white head. Strong hoppy aroma is dominated by pine/spruce, but has a grassy note as well. The flavour is all hops, from the floral start to the lingering, bitter finish. Little malt presence to speak of, which differentiates this IPA from the best of the style.

330 ml bottle - pours a very pale straw gold with a decent sized white head. Fresh(ish) aroma of grassy and citrusy hops. Lemony. Flavour kinda one dimensional, those citrus hops coming through again, a very faint touch of sweetness from the malt, all with a dry flavourless bitter finish. One note. Not bad, but, ehhhhh....

Bottle.
Pours a thin, weak, slightly lively cheddar orange with an aroma of dark melon, grapefruit, and salty air. Flavor is uber-bitter buttery malted grapefruit and sour earthy vegetables in the finish. Thick on the tongue. Way too bitter and mouth-puckering with too many earthy tones to be great.

In the bottle from HyVee Council Bluffs. Can’t beat the $4.99 price. This pours a hazy rich gold with no head at all. In fact, the lack of carbonation was a real downer here. The aroma hops provided the classic cat urine smell of amarillo. The flavor was a big grapefruit rind that lingers on the tongue forever. Perhaps this batch 004 was too old?

Bottle. Pours a clear gold, with a thin white head. Aroma is grapfruit and pineapple. Flavor is bitter and dry finish. A bit one-dimensional for an IPA. Good but nothing special.

Compliments of the Bretheren of Celticbrew. Enjoyed with the Mad Doctor, DrBayern, Everyone’s favorite Uncle Steve, and the Beer Pimp Brian. Has a citrusy aroma. Pours light yellow color. The head laces to the edge of the glass. I got no real hop flavor and found the beer tame. Light. I rate it OK.
