Pinball (2685), Allerød, Denmark Jun 18, 2009 33cl bottle from ølbutikken
dark brown, small thick smooth light brown head.
aroma is dominated by chocolate and toffee. also some hops.
flavor is sweet, slight chocolate, roasted grains, sligthly flowery probably from hops, much depper and complex than the aroma. ends quite roasted, malty sweet and hoppy. nice one. palate is thick and creamy. overall a great beer, except the aroma is not really letting you know what it is like. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle purchased at Palmer’s. Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate, booze and coffee. Chocolate flavor with a bit of alcohol and semi-bitter coffee on the back end. Overall: Underwhelmed
satan165 (541), River Grove, Illinois, USA Jun 13, 2009 nose of light roast, some alcohol and a metallic twinge. appearance is standard opaque. flavor is a bit numbing but contains light chocolate. devoid of java, the light alcohol seems to be the strongest flavor proponent. mouthfeel is similarly disappointing: a bit thin and fleeting. overall i expect more from brewdog. Shag (1922), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA Jun 13, 2009 This poured a black color with a beige head. The aroma contains some coffee, chocolate, and licorice. The flavor is rather bitter with some licorice, coffee, and chocolate. An odd gritty aftertaste. Overall a decent stout but not a great Impy. Dogbrick (2813), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 12, 2009 Pours a very dark brown color with a medium khaki head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of cocoa, mild coffee and malt. Medium, smooth body with flavors of sweet chocolate, coffee and malt. Mild hops in the background. The finish is sweet chocolate and toasted malt with a short chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall. Cirrhosis (607), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 11, 2009 The Riptide poem written on the side of the bottle is greatly amusing me but it’s too long to write out so I won’t. Very dark brown body with a small cap. Aroma has a mild coffee along with burnt malts, and some bakers chocolate there is also some noticeable alcohol in the nose. Flavor is bitter and chalky. Very burnt toast flavoured and mild. The more I drink this the more I enjoy it the light but still powerful flavor works for me, half way through the bottle now and my stomach is getting very warm. The after taste lingers with burnt coffee and strawberry yogurt?!?!? The 8% alcohol is hidden very nicely in this brew making it deadly to drink. For a Imp stout this is a little weak, the flavor is not intense enough however this is very tasty and highly drinkable 7 thumbs way up for the mild yet tasty Imp stout DubC5000 (195), San Diego, California, USA Jun 10, 2009 Beautiful deep auburn mahogany color. Brief yeast aroma, followed by intense dark chocolate. Chocolate flavor, with barleywine-strength alcohol and hop levels. Goes down smooth.
