jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Jun 8, 2009 Dark brown coloured body with a one centimetre tall lighter brown head. Some cola colours and larger bubbles show when held up to a light. Aroma of roasted malt, cereal, molasses, vanilla and raisins - strong and potent. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong assertive roasted malt up front with oatmeal, coffee, oak and vanilla strong behind. Aftertaste shows molasses and prunes tucked in with some alcohol and metal. Overall, a good and strong stout, lighter than most other Imperial Stouts, but a welcome alternative! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from the Utobeer Market Stall in Borough (London), England on 13-December-2008, sampled at home in Washington (on the other side of the pond) on 07-June-2009. nuplastikk (1157), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 30, 2009 22.4oz bottle. Opaque black with a minimal, patchy head. The aroma is relatively mild, but the taste is full on awesome. Big coffee and cocoa flavors. Mellow carbonation, ultra smooth. Mossy cocoa bitterness. Chocolate aftertaste. One of the best Scottish beers I’ve had in awhile. FrankJohansen (3327), Sabro, Denmark May 27, 2009 Bottle. Black colour with a small creamy head. Aroma and taste of roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla with a nice hoppy finish. astrofrk (218), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 25, 2009 Black-red. Fast, soapy head. Aroma: Roasted choc. malt, vanilla. Flavor: Same, then hop kick. Strong bitter finish. Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England May 23, 2009 I got pretty wasted on several Brewdog Imperial Stouts inculding their Smokehead @ THe REading Beer Fest a few weeks ago, so was looking foward to this. I really like their IPA. I can locate it easily and its a coolio UK take on US IPA. Rip Tide was a bit subdued ..but cool. Typical roast malt vibes giving chocolate, coffe and dark fruit. Pretty oily and smooth.Could be a bit thicker and inyaface ...I enjoyed it anywayz. Jukkabro (2981), Tampere, Finland May 19, 2009 Near black colored with red hints. Medium sized beige head. Sweet licorice-roasted and chocolaty aroma, salty note also comes up. Medium to full bodied, smooth palate. Flavor is more roasted with licorice still dominating, biting hops in aftertaste with thin alcohol still. Somehow unbalanced flavor with too strong dryness after smooth palated start. jimhilt (1663), Bow, New Hampshire, USA May 17, 2009 Pours a one finger cream head that fades quickly to a ring leaving some lace. Almost black, faint mahogany highlights. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Woody coffee nose. Flavor is roasted to burnt coffee, hints of alcohol. Drying finish. Best by Sep 9, 09. $6.99 for a 22.4oz bottle from Beverage Warehouse Winooski, VT. beerbill (1917), Laurel, New York, USA May 16, 2009 22.4 oz. bottle. Pours black with a moderate tan head that lasted through two-thirds of the glass and left an almost solid sheet of foam on the glass. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and prunes. The roasted malt is more dominant in the flavor, while the chocolate takes a step back. A bit of prune in the flavor as well along with a few notes of tobacco. Moderate bitterness. Medium-full bodied. Enjoyable.
