Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled;
It was only a matter of time before the original BrewDog got his paws in on the action. This egotistical young lab has decided to make a beer which best reflects himself. This is the beer equivalent of the big, cute chocolate monster. Soft, smooth, dark, chocolately and very strong. This gentle giant will never bite but would much rather give you a big lick on the face.

Batch 4. The beer pours to a dark cola colored body with a large soap bubble-like off-tan head. The aroma is very grainy and brownie like. Oatmeal and lots of liquid chocolate. Very distinctly dessert like. The flavor is rich chocolate syrup, oatmeal, rye, and lots of Scotch like things going on. Tastes like an organic beer but its good unlike most organic beers. Very clean flavors. Palate is nicely refreshing and not heavy. Very nicely subtle dry roasty malts and subtle hops.

At $11.99 I thought this was fairly pricey until a recent run had me picking up more bombers in the same price range. Nonetheless I won’t be buying it again despite being a solid imperial stout. I understand the need to charge more for something that has to cross an ocean. However after my final bottle of Paradox I think I am done with Brewdog for a while.

Aroma / Appearance - Ashy brown in complexion the head contrasts nicely with the dense inky black body. Peat, smoke, anise, vanilla, caramel, and warm smores blend into an invitation to explore this more.

Flavor / Palate - Creamy molasses starts the show followed by smoke and peanut butter. Dried oak chips trace their way over the back of the tongue along with chocolate flakes. The finish gives a pleasant touch yet could be more assertive. Overall this falls into the "nice but expensive" category along with beers like DFH Black and Blue and Southern Tier’s Cuvee series.

22.4oz bottle. Random, right? Very dark brown with a light beige head that dissipates. Licorice, chocolate, and wet paper aroma. The flavor has sweet licorice, lightly roasted malt and modest bitterness. Pretty mellow. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Not much going on here, but I can see why this would be a good barrel candidate.

Pours very dark with little light at the seams of the glass. Smells of malt syrup and slightly roasty. Tastes like malt syrup with average body and roasty bitterness. OK, but nothing to write home about.

0,33 l bottle. Black, as is to be expected. Nose is dominated by liquorice, coffee and roasted malts. Flavor is mainly coffee, some soy, with a slight chocolate sweetness at the end. Very nice brew.

Bottle: Dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roast and espresso. Maybe a little cocoa. Flavor is a rich blend of espresso, dark fruits, roast, molasses, and a little smokey. A feeling of the abv before the bittersweet tail. Nice.

Bottle. Sweet roasty aroma. Deep brown-black body, small tan head. Flavor is medium sweet, with plenty of chocolate and a bit of roast. Finish carries the sweetness, but adds some enjoyable bitter notes. A very well done strong stout, although different, to my way of thinking, from a true impy.
