doublebock (196), USA Mar 14, 2009 Black color with limited carbonation. Aroma of dates and cola. Very chewy and thick, the high octane makes this a slow sipper. Roasted coffee maltiness with solid hoppy kick at the end. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Mar 13, 2009 3/11/2009: Rip Tide "twisted merciless stout" is both the second Brew Dog beer I have had tonight or at any time and I must say that I am quite impressed with their offerings. They are full of flavor and life, but not overly high on the alcohol. The packaging is simple and modest, yet stylish and intriguing enough to draw one in. I really like the plays on characteristics going on in this particular beer. The black raspberry aroma is paired so nicely with the flavor of dark chocolate-covered liquor-filled cherries. Other complexities layered on top of that include heavily caramelized and roasted maltiness along with a smoky finish that is slightly dry. The smokiness is really doing it for me. So is the near black liquid and attractive frothy beige moustache-forming beige head! This is a rich and creamy, full-bodied beer that is super good!

Archibaldo de la Cruz (394), Finland Mar 11, 2009 Bottle. Almost black colour with a small tan head. Aroma is a bit sweet, roasted and chocolaty. Roasted malt flavour with notes of chocolate and liquorice. Some bitterness in the finish and quite smooth mouthfeel. esox (259), Oulu, Finland Mar 10, 2009 Bottled. Small beige head with big bubbles. Beer itself is pitch back. The nose had sewer-like and unpleasant off flavor that luckily vanished soon. Aroma has sweetish milk chocolate, salty and smoky rostedness of dark malts, some tar and coal. Burnt coffee, dark chocolate and good hoppy punch in the finish. The flavor is salty and dark malty. Well roasted and bitter finish. Milk chocolate gives balancing sweetness. The alcohol is well hidden. The palate is full bodied, heavily roasted, thick, oily and low carbonated. TET (226), Finland Mar 7, 2009 Almost black beer with small mocca brown head. Aroma is strongly roasted, slightly sour, coffee. Flavour is strong, roasted, coffee, some liquirice and slightly ashy in the end. Nicely smooth to drink, low carbonated and slighlty sticky. Pleasant, roasted stout, which could be even better if it was more complexicity. Anyway, this reminds me great Koff Porter and so this have to be great beer. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Mar 6, 2009 (22.4oz bottle, best by 7/7/09) Small tan head atop cola dark brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, coffee/roast, some bittersweet chocolate, anise, light cherry. Taste is moderately sweet, roast/coffee, some smoke, faint anise. Some alcohol in the finish. Low carbonation, medium-full body, some stickiness. Very nice take, not as brash as the style has tended toward in recent years. bermod (118), Lappeenranta, Finland Mar 4, 2009 Roasted malty, coffeish aroma with quite nice milky-chocolately notes with some licorice also. Flavor is roasty, a bit burnt malty with coffee and licorice, finishing dry, ashy and just very slightly bitter. Relatively thin body. sunevdj (1765), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Mar 4, 2009 Bottle at Cockney Pub, Århus. Pours black with an off-white diminishing head and some lacings. Sweet with aromas of roasted malts. and residual sugars. Also aromas of brown sugars. Thin body. Same harsh/sharp BrewDog finish
